Xavier, when i go to ebay.co.uk and netstat i get http information over port 1034 and 370*, so its not neccasairly just port 80 traffic. If wpkenny portforwarded some of these ports that would affect daminis browsing would it not?

Sounds more like what I do to bym occasionally when her surfing gets OTT, handy little feature being able to block certain sites from certain client PC's via content filter or DNS ;)

Do you really do that? Cos that's just wrong man. I knew a couple once where the bloke was a network admin and he used to monitor the girl's traffic and spy on her in IRC and stuff.

They split up.

But that's because she was porking some guy she met over IRC during her overly-long internet sessions ;)

No, I don't, hence the ';)'

WP just took it too seriously, and climbed atop the rocking horse of riteousness... blah blah blah

I have used it on a previous flatmate who was leeching 90% of our 'shared' line (I was paying for the whole line, he was apparently only using it for email and 'very occasional' web... funny how his bandwidth utilisation sloped off after I blocked KaZaA to his internal IP. He considered himself a bit of a 'l33t h4x0r' and I didn't bother to discuss my level of technical experience with him, made it all the easier to feign stupidity when he moaned about our 'flaky ass connection' and told me countless times how he was apparently defending us from 'hack attacks'

If you were paying for the whole line, then why share it with him? Unless he was paying for the teabags or something.

If it were only for email, as he claimed, asking him to pay a share seemed silly... He was alternatively going to use a modem + dialup and pay that himself 'just to collect mail' - by letting him connect to my AP it kept the BT line free.

What a swine. I'd have blocked his access completely, and phoned BT up to bar data calls.

If that were possible, I would - but unlike making a data call from a mobile phone, where the network knows what kind of connection you're making, BT are for the most part oblivious.

In the end, I shut him out totally, changed the WEP key to the access point, turned DHCP off at the router and used a really obscure IP range.

Of course the cheeky fucker tried to get back onto the network by plugging directly into the router, with no avail, and rather than giving up there he tried to prod the server in my room and then finally turned everything off and on in the flat at at the fuse box, hoping it would reboot everything and let him back in. 'tard.

I don't think he counted on the jobby great 1200VA UPS connected to my shuttle server. Heh.

Cutting a long story short, after that episode we knew he was a devious little fuckhead, just before we moved out he decided as some kind of parting gesture to steal a new iPod which apple had just sent me for review from my room. We hunted high and low thinking we'd just put it away somewhere and only a couple of weeks later called the police in to report it. He went white when he answered the door to them, standing in the hallway which reeked of the spliff he'd just put down to answer the doorbell. Heh.

Actually, forget blocking his account, I'd have sparked him out there and then.

I did consider it, and Wilier among others seemed pretty keen to follow that track, however you forget that there's a mini-Xav due in less than 3 months, and I wouldn't be much use to Bym spending part of her pregnancy at her majesties pleasure for assault.

Made more sense to just focus on getting the hell out.

I'm bored of people who use smileys to communicate and who haven't noticied that 'color' doesn't work, lets agree to disagree and never mention it again, besides which you can't be sure as to what I as addressing; it's legal high jinks!

Edit; Here's a distraction, LOOK THIS WAY

Couldn't be arsed to change it, the reason it had colour is because it was pasted from imdb. As for the smiley it's a more concise way of portraying an emotion. Considering I wasn't particularly angry I couldn't be bothered to write too much.

I line has been drawn under the episode all you're doing is digging it up again to have a cheap dig.

The first bit is my sig and my reply to his post. The second is scooba being terminally un-funny.
