Baby making a gasping noise

Basically my son has started making this gasping noise when he breaths in (he's 8 months old) we were worried about it so naturally we took him to see a doctor who in turn told us (after checking his lungs and heart) that he was perfectly fine and that some babies do make that noise (the noise sounds really horrible just for the record, its like when he breaths in it just sounds like he's gasping for air) so even after being told that by the doctor I'm still put off by the noise itself.. has anyone encountered or had a friend/family member with the same thing?

Worth noting that my son is fine, he isn't going blue or stopping breathing or anything like that he's literally 100% fine apart from said noise.

If you aren't happy with the doctors opinion go and see another doctor.

Its not that I'm not happy with the doctors opinion Raven its just the noise, its the kind of noise that really really gets under your skin :p

This is the noise (this isnt my baby, just an example I found on youtube) its pretty much the exact same noise, my sons is a little deeper tho.

Or ask on Freddyshouse, same diff tbf.

Hope the little fella is alright :)

And the reason I ask so much on here is because of the amount of cupboard Doctors, Solicitors and Teachers etc that lurk in the shadows of FH.

sounds like croup to me, but that would be accompanied by a nasty cough and him struggling to breathe, so its not that if he is otherwise fine.
Does it improve if you take him into a warm steamy room? (ir, turn shower on hot full blast and sit with baby in bathroom for 20 mins) If it gets better in that environment, then go back and ask for a second opinion as it means a narrowing of the airways.
Does he snore? He could also have mild laryngomalacia (basically floppy throat muscles) that will tone up as he gets older.

isnt coughing or anything like that and his breathing seems fine, can even laugh constantly without coughing (which is what normally happens when you have breathing problems and try to laugh) also doesnt snore :)

Maybe give the midwife a ring and see if they can come and do a check over of the boy. They are normally very good and have seen it all before.

Seriously though mate, get a second opinion and try and not worry too much, if your son is your first then everything gets amplified and you worry too much.

Moriath and Wazzerphuk have done that Everz, not our fault they're immature pricks. Thx to those that replied seriously, taking him for a 2nd opinion in 30 minutes.

To be fair Blood, FH is not the place to look for serious answers.

To be fair nothing Ch3tan, there is a time and place for humour like that, this wasnt it. As for looking for serious answers all I asked is if anyone had come across it before, I didnt ask for a full blown medical report or diagnosis via a forum.

Said only by people who happen at THAT time to find things offensive, or too close to home, while at other times are fine with kiddierape scenarios :p

Shall we take a look at your posting history? *readies search engine* No? Aww.

I can't recall ever hijacking someones thread about a family member and having a laugh at their expense with jokes/humour you wouldnt utter in a public place let alone on a forum. The sort of humour listed above is the sort of shit you expect to see in the bad-taste joke thread, not in a thread like this. As for my post history feel free Tohtori, should keep you busy for a few hours and away from stirring up shit in peoples threads.

If a random person came up to me in public and asked me about their gasping baby I'd probably say the same tbh. All babies need relaxing smoke, but not ash in their mouths.

Another common statement that only comes out when it suits people :p

You didn't realise the answers you were going to get from your PREVIOUS "any doctors around" thread? Or are babies taboo since you got one?

Not the point tho is it Toht? when you ask something pretty harmless/in good faith on a forum you don't expect replies from people along the lines of

"Stop using your kids mouth as an ashtray"
"Take your cock out of its mouth" - Moriath - noticed how that post has magically vanished to cover his arse

If the thread didnt interest either of them why even click reply? or do you advocate people having a laugh at a baby/worried parents expense?

Learn where the line is you dumb fucks.

Which interestingly enough bounces back and forth like a baby in a windtunnel, depending on the day, poster and such.

Necessary or not, fnny or not, hypocrisy is still strong in here :D

No it isn't. Its pretty fucking straightforward actually. Anyone taking the piss when a guy asks about something to do with his own child, is a douchebag of the highest order. I see no wiggle room for moral ambiguity here. I wouldn't do it, and I wouldn't expect it from others.
