Guys,

Trying to download torrents with Azureus, but they NEVER seem to even start.

This has only recently started happening.

Cant figure out WHY, but in the "peers" tab for each torrent, all I see is "pending" then "connecting" then "waiting for handshake".

Nothing seems to work

checking the console, it seems there is a HIVE of activty. Below is an extract

ent AZ_HANDSHAKE from [971BDFBDCB0C480F240B076072FCC609A1753E4C, Azureus 2.3.0.0, TCP/UDP ports 9999/9999] supports [JPC_CACHE_HELLO:1][BT_KEEP_ALIVE:1][BT_UNCHOKE:1][BT_REQUEST:1][BT_CHOKE:1][BT_PIECE:1][BT_HAVE:1][BT_BITFIELD:1][BT_CANCEL:1][JPC_CACHE_REPLY:1][BT_INTERESTED:1][BT_UNINTERESTED:1][BT_HANDSHAKE:1][AZ_PEER_EXCHANGE:1] message to L: 83.151.139.146: 33654 [Azureus 2.3.0.0]

have you tried another client? i tried that one too and found it to be "not good" ... but ive stuck with www.bitcomet.com since its alot better.. try that and see if it works... (only client ive reached maxspeed on torrents with a clamp on uploadspeed)

like i said.. www.bitcomet.com = the best :) and if you have half-duplex line like me, just head into the setup and choke total uploadspeed to about 50% of your uploadspeed (some say 80% but i find its best with 50)

Quite a few torrent sites are banning Azureus users , quoted from one such site:

So what's the deal with Azureus 2.3? Why does using it get me banned?

New Azureus has a feature known as decentralized tracking, which allows the client to function in the event the tracker dies. While this could be considered a good thing if you are hosting pirated Windows XP ISO on your DSL tracker, decentralized tracking enabled by default on healthy torrents with stable trackers only interferes with the tracker's ability to collect accurate statistics, as well as affects non-azureus running peers by not allowing the tracker to properly distribute pieces. All new torrents posted on this website (starting from May 5th 2005) will have a flag embedded to prevent decentralized tracking. Any attempts to circumvent this feature will result in your entire netblock being immediately BANNED. In order not to get banned, it is recommended that you turn decentralized tracking off, by following this simple procedure:

1. In Azureus, go to Tools
2. Select Options
3. Under "Connection" scroll down until you get to the "Peer Sources" section
4. Uncheck the box labeled "Decentralized tracking".
5. Close out of the Options.

help with azureus wanted badly!!

hi all - i have been using Azureus @ work for over a year with fantastic results. I just got net @ my new home and all is fine, except for Azureus - after following all instructions re: portforwarding (all done and fine), firewalls (off and when on Az is in exceptions with all ports) etc

i get green smiles as NAT is fine but its stupidly slow - not even 1kbps!

(i have the same connection/ISP @ home but get 80-200kbps there)

i have:

WinXP (firewall off)
Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless Router
Motorola Wireless Modem
All green smiles on torrents
Currently 150bps (not Kbps)
Have set up Static IP/DNS settings as directed on
Port Forwarding for the Belkin F5D7230-4

please help! i have been at this for 7hrs!

many thanks

Azureus = Slow, buggy and bloated. Give me uTorrent any day.

Also opening a post from 2 years ago seems rather bad form for such a new member *shrugs*
