My favourite car when it comes to design. If you get one, I am going to be so jealous that I might have to ignore you!

I like it, could be tempted by something at the same price range though.

If I was scrabbling to afford one I would say the 3rd option but as it's a total pipe dream I will go with 1. :D

I like the R8, just don't like the shitty two colour paint jobs.

Because MORE is BETTER.

Plus it's much better to drive in GT5, so it must do IRL ;)

At this price its all pretty subjective; there aren't any truly bad cars so you're buying image as much as anything else. The R8 is in a bit of a funny price range (85-115K), and is probably technically the best car for the money in pure spec and performance terms. I'd still spend my money elsewhere though, and on technically inferior cars, either an Aston V8 Vantage or a Maserati GranTurismo 4.7.

(NB. If all I wanted was a car to blow the doors off an R8, I'd just buy a GTR for 2/3 the money and set fire to my driving licence).

Overhyped. You can get more class than an Audi for the same sort of money.

Yeah a GTR for me and the extra on a really good day to day car.

A big yawn from me. After three days at Goodwood the Audi was probably the least interesting car there.

Me, I'd have a Morgan Aero 8. Cheaper, more distinctive, better noise. And British.

Nice car, but I tend to find the drivers who drive too close and tailgate are Audi drivers. Merc and BMW drivers also get a bad rep, but it is usually an Audi driver that's driving in a discourteous way.

Only last Friday I had an Audi TT zoom up behind me, flashing headlights. The fact I was halfway alongside an articulated lorry, travelling at 70mph didn't make a difference. He was literally less than a metre off my rear bumper and flashing headlights all the time. Some people would move their left foot over and touch their brake pedal. I'm not one of those people but I won't be bullied either, so I carried on at 70mph until I was a car length clear of the lorry then indicated and pulled in.

Mr Audi TT was shouting, hitting his horn and gesticulating wildly as he accelerated away at a speed approaching 100mph.

The happy end to the story is that I passed him 10 miles down the road. He'd been pulled over by a NWP unmarked blue Skoda Octavia VRS with strobes in the front grille and rear window. Serves the fucker right. :)

(Yes, I picked option 4)

I would have said a Vantage over the R8 myself, but I drove a DB9 lately and I must say the interior build quality really wasn't that great, put me off the marque a bit. Perhaps the Vantage is better thay way.

strange, the people who do that here in the NL tend usually to be BMW or Volvo drivers.
in Germany it's usually the guys in the mad engine Mercs or BMW's who do it, but tbh if you're doing 170 and someone is coming up to overtake, then you should get the fuck out of the way imo.

Mercedes is for the retired xD From my experience, the tailgaters in Germany are AUDI and well … generally most of the drivers :p

I test drove an Alfa GT today, and I'm doing another tomorrow. People can bitch about Alfa's all they want, but the GT is a pretty sweet car, and I love Alfa interiors to bits :)

New style merc saloons over Audi/BMW anyday, it's not that Audi / BMW is a bad car it's the rep.

BMW = Black wannabe gangsters / Indians and real estate agents.

Audi = Business people in suits that drive like Hamilton but have noone of the skill.

Stereotype much? People don't half talk drivel about driving behaviour. BMW and Audi now sell so many cars they've effectively become the mainstream, so the stereotypical BMW/Audi driver is "everyone". Any perceived "reputation" is entirely in your head.

For the record, Mercs leave me cold, always have. I get the quality argument, I just can't remember ever coveting a Merc, whereas I've certainly coveted plenty of BMWs and a fair few Audis. On the other hand I'm stupid enough to have owned three Alfas, so I'm a glutton for punishment anyway.

Another cretin who believes everything he reads about cars he's either never driven, or never likely to own.
