Been playing WoW now for 2 weeks.. well 4 days :p since they keep me on Base from mon-fri. Having played DAoC for a couple of years i notice the differences both in the game itself and the way people play it.

in DAoC leeching on others monsters was a nono (it happened, but rarely for long) my experience in WoW so far is that people attack "your" mobs when they feel like it. sometimes it's to help you and keep you from getting killed. but most of the times it doesn't make any sense at all ^^. Did i miss something here?

The person attacking your mob doesnt really gain anything from it, no xp or loot, and you loose nothing, so its not frowned upon

I sometimes cast a instadot or wack a mob in passing with my staff when running past lower levels fighting a mob, since it doesnt take anything away from them when they have already taged the mob, and doesnt cost me anything. Its just beeing friendly in this game - in daoc if you did it you would steal exp and possibly loot, not so in wow (only exception is if a very low level tags and a much higher level does almost all the damage, then the tag disappears iirc, dont remember if this has changed).

It's quite funny, because you can use it for your own good :p i.e. in moonbrook/westfall, just tag everything you see and the other 300 noobs around you will finish them

I always help people out with their mobs when running past, since they dont lose anything by it, its just to be friendly :D

What really bugs me is when I bolt something and while the bolt is traveling, someone insta-dd's the mob or something, so they get its xp but i get its aggro from bolt :<

Unless they've specifically asked you not to help out I hope?

Not everyone consider it friendly behaviour, even if it doesn't "cost" them anything.

I for one can't stand people "helping out" with killing when there was no help needed. Buff all you want, but atleast let me practice killing several mobs at once without interference. :(

i try and buff people while i run around, the druids af buff lasts 30 minutes and it probably helps people quite a bit!

the whole hitting other people's mobs. its not a real problem but with daoc you lost xp etc. i still get annoyed with people when they hit my mob even though i dont lose anything, i think its reverting to the game structure of daoc. im only lvl 16 druid so im still testing different ways of killing mobs etc so when someone interferes that rattles my cage!

Maybe he was training the dagger skill and didnt want or need any help?
Its rather fun when a lvl30 fighting lvl15 mob unarmed to get skills and people comes to help like the lvl15 would be a problem...

Other than that, I think it is fine to help if you clearly see it is needed.

I've also seen some mobs tagged but not being pulled or aggroing something. Anyone knows how this is being done? Only seen it at the lower lvls.

Actually he's likely very serious. I have access to 1 and 2 handed swords axes and maces, unarmed combat and bows. At any given time I may choose a weapon of choice (ie the one with the currently highest DPS for example) but I do try and keep my skill levels up in all of the others. Trying to do this against decent level mobs can be pretty dangerous (especially since I can't afford to keep high DPS weapons of all kinds, so I am often using a low level dropped one) so I do it against mobs alot lower... having people wander along and kill the mobs as you do this can be annoying.

actually i do the same but if somebody attacks my mob once, i dont care... and possibly wont act like a moron telling him in general chat that he is a retard. If he continues to do so (which i didnt on a side note) i would ask him politely to stop as i'm skilling up my weapons (as a rogue i do the same with swords - daggers - maces). But wandering ppl never stoped me doing so ever, as you have to kill thousands of mobs from lvl 6 upto 60, i wouldnt worry about 1 mob and act like a wierdo oO

of course people behaviour differs due to age, parents and stuff like that i guess.

oh and to the other poster:

as i saw he was on low hit points near other agro mobs, so i thought i give him a hand, if somebody's reaction is like that for a big nothing (training daggers at lvl 6 as a rogue,,, okay valid point really but still the way he acted was still childish and for me it was funny :p) Also he said leecher first, that defense-dagger training idea came by after he realised there is no such thing as leeching.

teh end.

You forgot "mood" as well.

It may have been your only hit on the mob, but there might have been 5-6 people before you who felt the same urge to "whack a mole". It does get extremely irritating.
