That's why I was there at 11:15 this morning - and again at 2:30 :D

No kids, and plenty of seats, mainly 20-somethings coming to relive their childhood :)

Just like me :D

New Hope is way better than The Empire Strikes Back! Like, 10x.

No way, the end of A New Hope kicks arse. The ending of ESB is shite.

Well all you see is Luke getting rescued of an aerial, and just talking at the end. Very boring. While A New Hope had a brilliant ending, with the space battle, and the destruction of the Death Star.

Well you probably missed the best bit of the ending, where Darth Vader revealed HE WAS LUKES FATHER.

*ahem*

Only the best bit in the entire SW saga, which left film-goers on tenterhooks wondering if it were true for a couple of years. And the ending was meant to be downbeat, which it was.

:p

Well i just got back from seing AOTC and dammit, its good. Never been a big fan of SW, always found it to be just too quirky (acting, plot, directing). Anyways, aside from a few flaws in this one the film is bloody good, we got tight leather suits, peanut smuggling, portman and huge battle scenes...oh and yoda with a light saber, woot.

I could definately watch it again, very enjoyable film.

Hayde whatsits face should not be anakin, but tbh, a small venezualen slug would have played a better part than the young annie in TPM so i'll let him and his bad acting skills off.

I thought it was ok, Anakin is hollow man, Euan was great and I liked seeing all the jedi fighting. Except for the jedi who was smiling at his own powers, the one with all the tubes coming out of his head.

We bumped into a mate who went to the 1sy showing, and was there for his 5th time :/ He was and is a SW nutter.

Sar matey,

Really serious question, I have heard a rumour that Jar Jar dies in EP2, please tell me it's true, he's too sodding annoying.

If you don't want to post this here, please PM me.

and I still don't understand people hating Episode I so much, specifically because of Jar-Jar etc, Episode VI had those smegging Ewoks, how can you possibly get a more sucky scene than that bit where the Ewok cuddles his dying comrade and gets up to kick some Stormtrooper ass.

The mere fact that somehow itty bikkle teddie bears with stone age weaponry can overpower Jedis and Imperial tech is farcical in the extreme and mildly embarrassing to the serious Lucasian, at least in Episode I the Gungans got a balanced and resound whipping from superior tech.

The Empire isn't a stupid organisation, if Ewoks were all powerful then _they'd_ be the ones in white battle armour directed by Vader and the AT-ST would have anti-timber deflector shields on the sides too.

Episode I has all the things required by a SW flick; the big battle, the space shootout, the race, the final light sabre combat, it even had "big hair", the difference is we are all sensible 20-something and 30-somethings watching it, not pre-pubesants like the first time round.

You shouldn't knock Episode I until you see through a kids eyes, my 5 y.o. loves it, its enough proof for me that Georgie got it right.

the whole point behind that is.. im sure a lot of u will no...

george lucas wrote the entire saga as one HUGE movie but of course to make one he had to cut just about all of it out

he decided on the new hope.. but never expected to be asked to make another one so he designed the ending as a finalie (spelling?!) to everything. no loose ends

in esb he already had rotj on the cards and so designed the ending to follow on to the 3rd.. the 2 movies were more like two 'parts'. you immediately no theres gonna b another movie.. everything ended so unfinished.. like wots gonna happen with luke knowing vaders his old man, how the hell is solo gonna get free, etc..

No loose ends???

WTF? I suppose Darth Vader fucking off in his modified TIE-Fighter wasn't a loose end??? :p

he wrote all three films at the same time (the screenplays). He had ESB and ROTJ ready if ANH was a success. ESB was the dark depressing one, cos it was in the middle. the middle of a story is always low, and depressing, makes the good bit on the end that much better.

Hm I was going to post an opinion of AOTC... but I agree with almost every single thing Sar said :)

And yes, Episode 3 is going to be "dark" according to George.

EP 9 does exist (sort of). The saga continues past EP 6. but George has said he isn't going to make 7, 8 and 9.
