Im bored so attempting to grow a beard to see what it looks like as ive always just shaved every 2-3days. I can get hair fine sideburns down, tash, chin, neck but my cheek hair grows really slow :<
is there an art to it? i think i heard something about shaving every day for a few months so it comes through faster?

Dont do all that "shave every day" bollocks, just means you'll get a rash.

My beard grows at different speeds, the bit around my mouth grows the fastest :p

All you need to do is leave it. Once you think "ooh its a bit bald here, but bushy there", trim it down. The idea is you trim it once length, the area's which take longer to grow wont be affected. Then it'll all look as though it grows one length.

Once it's turned into a beard, you'll find it grows much faster next time around.

I personally trim it with an electric shaver. I have a setting so it's a bit longer than stubble. If my beard is too long, or just a bit messy, i use that to neaten things up!

Cool beans!

In my opinion there are 4 stages of beard for a new starter.

1) stubble
2) getting there, but it still needs more
3) arghhh my face is itching like i have face crabs!
4) 1 week after (maybe even less that that), non itchy face with super beard KARRRR im a pirate.

When it starts to itch, you'll only have to wait a few days and it'll be fine.

Haha you should do a Before and After mugshot

Beard is a very simple animal.

The more you shave, the faster it grows really.

It does have a limit of genes though. So if you're meant to have a stubby lil puny beard, you'll have it and that's about it. If you get a bushbeard like robinson crusoe in a week, there ya go.

There's no magic to it, just trimming and choosing a style, just like with hair.

By the by, conditioners and shampoos work on beards too. You can get a fluffy stubblebeard which, i've heard, is just "fantastic feeling" :D

What'd be funny is if you have a BF who soon complains about beard rash!

this is not true and been proven

It's true, but...

To. A. Limit.

If you've never shaved, it won't grow beyond a point. When you THEN shave, it grows a bit stronger. And so on, and so on, until it reaches it's maximum strength(in genes).

The thing is, you got to let it grow, then shave it off, then let it grow again. That way it gets, like with hair, stronger.

Then i'd suggest just letting it stay for a week or two, trim it down to what you want and then keep it there. A mechanical shaving thingy(trimmer or somesuch) works wonders with a full beard, as you can just woosh woosh in the morning and still it leaves you that stubble.

God!!! that would put me well off, my ex-wife used to have a stray black hair come out below her nipple, I used to take the piss out of it but as I recall I don't think she ever once saw the funny side.

Harh. Always find it amusing when men go all "ewww" about some hair on women.

Just like when men get all "No no no!!" when i tell them "Yes, women take hard long sh*ts too, while reading the comics!"

I can never get passed the itchy like hell stage, always give in and shave. Feels sooooo good once it's gone.

Why purposefully look like a yeti?
Beards make no sense to me, but handle bar moustaches? Hell yes

Money savers... :) You can have a picnic on the stuff you find in your beard, you save cash on not buying razors or shavingfoam, and it keeps your face warm in the winter :p

gotie + girl = can be hilarious..... or painfull.

If you're not sure if you want a full beard, try the Half Beard
