We have 4 vans (business) and our big van, Vaxhall Movano, just went from £980 last year to £720 this year. I dont know why. There are 3 of us that are named on it, all over 30 and 2 of us have 6 points each
Yep, I think they all have.
Just to make you feel even worse, the cost of fuel is set to go down, but are we going to see a reduction at the pumps? Are we feck.
when i passed my test in 1990 it was 780 quid for a year fully comp on a 3 year old 1.1 escort .. i guess adding inflation its still a lot but not huge
Aviva certainly seems like the best option upto now, their deal is £550 + the potential £40 quidco making it around £510 then therefor cheaper than last year as well. I say potential because Quidco is a temperamental bitch with me, sometimes not giving me the actual cashback offered.
But with this IAM thing they say they do beat any quote, so will see what they can do tomorrow as i don't think i will get any better than this.
One thing i'm wondering, it's in regards to how the vehicle is generally used. It seems that if you select social/commuting that the insurance premium becomes higher than if it's just social usage. However i see the commuting is driving too and from work, or on business trips.
I only live about 5minutes from work driving, is it REALLY that big of an issue if all i do is drive there, and drive back as it's not all that huge? Surely they couldn't pull me on that if i fill quotes in for it?
I was wrong again, infact, very wrong. I just did a quote on Hastings Direct as they where offering cashback too - and the quote came in at £437 (Minus £40 insurance). Freaking awesome. Thats a massive difference overall.
I like the way car insurance is done here in the UAE, it is calculated on a fixed rate of between 2 & 5% of the cars value. Things like dealer agency repair and the type of vehicle is what drives the figure.
Well been off and on the phone today to my current insurers Surety considering i found this deal for the £400-ish mark, they're confused as to how it's ended up so low for me so they're investigating.
Don't know if i should be shitting myself or peeved it's taking so long.
A-plan quoted me about £2,500 to renew my car insurance, a figure they assured me was "competitive". They actually had the cheek to sound offended when I politely told them to stick their quote.
They're usually pretty good when it comes to things like this. Last year i found a better deal, and they beat the price i was found online. I think they just wanted some proof to show that my insurance quote really was that low, so its likely i might even get it cheaper than Hastings/Insure, if not, then heyho!
Guess I'll find out soon enough since I need to renew in July. This is my first year for a while with no incidents or motoring convictions in the last 5 years, so I'm hoping I might hit some of the pickier providers. To be honest I think it takes the piss a bit that I have 8 years NCD but I'm still adversely affected because I have to declare a "No Fault" incident in which a professional golfer reversed into my stationary car at a set of traffic lights!
My main gripe however is the fact that the apartment block I live in is classed as HX1 although it's at a junction of two roads that are both HX3. Last year I got a quote for a house on one of those roads with a HX3 address and it came back as £480. At my address, in my private, off-road carpark less than 10m away from that other house, my car insurance is £1100. This annoys me greatly.
Well quote was accepted for £459, they matched the prices offered and added the extra stuff like legal and breakdown. So yeah, happy enough with that considering what i thought it would have been.
