Anyone a computer wizz?

Mine just randomly decided to turn every single file on my C drive into windings lettering, and thus none of them worked, then I restarted and it said disk error, so I had to format. I tried everything, it wouldn't even boot into safe mode. Very confused :S I have up to date virus system, another computer that acts as a hardware firewall, almost every protection I can think of, and I don't know how the fuck it happened. I didn't install anything or do anything abnormal at all, I was just chatting on MSN and IRC, decided to try and start IE... and shortcut was dead... Very confused. Anyone any idea wtf happened?

Could be that yer hard drive is dead.

Make a windows 98 start up disk to re-format your PC if you think the HD/D is okay. You can get the files from www.bootdisk.com and it is all very straight forward.
