Any games like Warhammer

Looking for some equivalent games to Warhammer Shadow of the horned rat and Dark Omen.

I like the genre but find games like Shogun and the sequal etc boring.

I think they once made a 3rd Warhammer game, I'm not entirely sure tho.

for a more modern theme you could try Hogs of War. squad based tactics and lame humour. quite good too

Other than shogun which I agree is pretty boring imo I don't think there are any others like SotHR and DO.
Bother amazing games tho .
There are plenty of GW games but none of this type, and they are quite a let down aswell.

Not amazing, But kind of similar is Stronghold, And Stronghold Crusaders. Also not exactly 2d but, Battle Realms is a good RTS, I agree with Vegy tho, DO is a classic, Specially online

From the comment it sounds like you haven't played DO or SotHR , Star Craft like any bog standard RTS is a matter of who can build the larest ammount of the best troops and the most defence then zerg your opponent. Rarely will you find much tactics in RTS other than this, DO and SotHR were different because you could never get troops during battle, your troups were set into units of other troops of the same kind. Most of the time the odds would be stacked against you and only by setting up tactics could you win, flanking enemy actually means something in these games etc.
If you haven't played either I suggest you try DO, can be bought for £5 online now with free p&p from some companies.

Dug up the DO cd from a drawer last night. Omg what a great game it is. Been like 2 years since I played it.

You looked into any other the add on units? They got things like High elf units and Empire units, Although they aint got the textures for em, They still add more too the game!

Rome: Total war = better
