Um theres no real comparison between cheats in DAoC and people who are entitled to legal representation even when guilty of crimes.

Uhm back be4 it got patched u could make such jumps when you took a screenshot, the jump is client side so with lag u can get some pretty neat jumps.

If her comp had been working hard the sec she jumped she will still get such jumps (ie. can ve done with windowed mode still if u setup your win2k / win-xp right, same as the random teleport thingy some1 talked about once.).

Unless she used some program to do this it will most likely give her a 3-day ban but nothing perm (heck i can get up there myself given enough time but if u get all the way up those uber guards will 1shoot u :>)

Was in DF today standing on the steps...about a fg or so of mids standing at the bottom of the steps. And yes I saw two mids trying to lag jump up the stairs :/. Its like they want to get banned or something

IF Atheena genuinly lagged and didnt realise you were not supposed to be able to get up the first step then ofc she would kill.

How often do you see people in places you think how the f. did they get there, to find that it's perfectly possible to get there legally with a bit of thought and effort and patience. Point being, some places look inaccessable, but that dont stop you trying to get there, cos maybe there is a way up. Hell ive tried to get up those steps, there's a tempting lump sticking out saying get up via me, but I havnt managed it, so have concluded its not possible.

Atheena may have just been trying the same and happened to have succeeded and not realised it was due to lag. That is not cheating imo, and deserves nothing more that it being pointed out to her that actually, your not supposed to be able to get up there and she should not do it again otherwise she could be reported.

On the other hand, she may have knowingly cheated. Which deserves either a warning or a small ban (whatever GOA determins is appropriate). Only repeat offenders should get anything more.

From the chat log posted, there is no hint that she knew she was cheating, she was just bragging, obviously supprised that she was able to kill 3 people. As she is not here to defend herself, dont be so quick to judge. Leave it to goa to look at (they probably wont, its too trivial) and leave it to her guild, who hopefully will get her side of the story, point out it is not legal and take any action necessary (based on what she has to say for herself).

On a side note, the two especially ugly looking trolls in one of the screen shots were me

cheaters to a extend, but to add somthing more, the way you
see fit to make them look even worse than they are, its just plain mean and respectless.
And in this case she didnt "know" apparently that this was a bug/exploit. And to the dude saying:

Point is, you can't get up those stairs by jumping normally ( you have to resort to lag-jumping ).

Is it a 'big' cheat, probably not. If she had gotten up there and jumped down again I guess nobody would've cared - she did kill people that she couldn't have killed without going up there though - aka used an exploit to kill them. ( not only is this an exploit, claiming that she didn't know she wasn't allowed to do that, or rather brag about her kills and saying they are jealous just show a case of bad judgment on her behalf )

"but it's not that big a deal" - yes it is. Cheating is cheating, big or small doesn't matter - the line is drawn at 'you cheat, or you don't'.

This won't result in a permanent ban, probably a warning or a 3-day ban - if she does it again however, it most likely will result in something worse.

And also, why do people try to catch me making errors? I'm not posting this just for personal satisfaction. I'm doing this to discourage cheaters, because cheating can destroy a community.

Lets go on, enchanters pets can do that, and still can do that. I see enchanter pets casting where they want and hit succesfully.

And about the title of this thread, BAN all cheaters no matter what realm they are. They are just cheaters/exploiters who cant kill in normal mode and need to earn rps by ruining a game.
