Hi. I too have an old 2405FPW and as other 2405FPW'ers will know, it lacks HDMI in. It's in storage at the moment but will be reinstated soon. I'm about to buy a new laptop with HDMI and normal 15pin VGA outputs.
When I had the monitor plugged into my PC, I used DVI to DVI. I see I can get an HDMI > DVI adapter and then use a DVI cable OR buy a HDMI cable and use a HDMI > DVI adapter at the other end. Does it matter which one I go with? I'm assuming both will trump the 15pin VGA route.
Thanks!

which is encouraging.A DVI signal is electrically compatible with an HDMI video signal; no signal conversion is required when an adapter or asymmetric cable is used, and consequently no loss in video quality occurs.
