Ok well This theory boils down to fact that the worlds old religions are actually based on the earth being visiting by humanoid aliens long ago. These beings helped evolve us so we could help them farm whatever recourses they needed. Over time we began to worship them as gods ect. Is lots more to it but thats a quick general rundown. One funny modern example was in ww2 the ameicans laned on some remote island and while there they handed out food to the local tribes, then when people visited this island many years later the tribes had come to worship the american soldiers as gods who had descended from the skys and given them gifts.

Ah yeh that one, it's plausible, well, if we start with the basis that other races are out there and capable of that kind of travel.

It's even mentioned in the bible(funnily enough), with a city landing from the sky and jesus hpping on a cloud to ride to the heavens (etc).

Many religions would back that theory, without knowing it even.

It's certainly an interesting concept and i wouldn't dismiss it as hocum.

People are willing to think this is true but religions are all bollocks? Laughable really. The guy who created this theory in Chariot of the Gods was discredited many years ago along with his stupid ideas.

Like said before, it is plausible that something like that could've happened(If you are open minded). A "miracle" like that is what could've created all the religions we already know off! No wonder tho... Imagine a human at that time, seeing anything alien like, no wonder he would think there is a God.

Yep and its not to much of a stretch to take the Winged Gods/Angels decding from the heavens to just be an interpritation of what the AA theory stands for.

Was that Flash gordan?
Gordon's ALIVE?!?!? </Brian Blessed>

I find the idea of Intelligent Life Elsewhere (ILE) appealing but the practical side of me says that it's extremely unlikely that they've visited.
Put another way, if a technologically advanced race visited Earth then it would be like the plot of the film "Independence Day". As a matter of history, the more technically advanced side always conquers the more primitive side for their resources. It's happening in the world right now with the US trying to secure oil supplies with military action.

I read all of Graham Hancocks books when I was younger and he comes out with some fascinating theories, most of which are bollocks but it raises some interesting ideas. Some of the architecture is mind blowing in, much of which we have only been doing in the last 100 years. I do think we lost a lot of knowledge at some point prior to the loss of knowledge in the dark ages.

I happen to believe in aliens but I doubt they would just rock up and build shit then bugger off again, would seem rather pointless.

My own theory is in the distant past humans had much more knowledge but it was all lost in some cataclysm like maybe the great flood or sinking of atlantis( if real). After that the humans that survived regressed knowledge wise.

Look at history as a continuum. Civilizations don't just happen. Hunter-gathering Stone Age societies are at one end of the continuum, we are somewhere closer to the other end. Each technological level, if you will, above Stone Age hunter-gatherers requires a different level of social organization to support it. Increased specialization is the rule. The industrial age required millions of workers and consumers. The postindustrial age required even more specialization, more workers and consumers. We are now moving into the era of global economy, in which the brains, talents and skills of workers all over the planet will be melded together in gigantic enterprises to create further technical progress.

The properties of the technological continuum that I've just talked about are rigid; in effect, they are laws. Since each level of technological achievement requires more and more people, more and more social organization, it follows that without the specialized people, the technological level cannot be sustained.

If a cataclysmic disaster did befall some ancient Human society, a disaster which killed most of the population, the survivors would be forced to drop to a technological level their numbers could sustain.

You mean something like that?
