Sounds like a contradiction that.

No - Naths right -- energy cannot be created. All the energy in the universe came about at the big bang, all you can do is change its form -- ir burning wood just takes the energy stored in the wood and turns it into heat etc.


As for the car -- a 4 mile car might be interesting but it would also be circular to create the collision -- would make steering it a bitch

But in The Matrix (Yes it's just a film), they take the body as it produces something like "5000 BTU's of body heat". You don't "create" the energy, you change it from body heat.

Yes but in order to create that energy you would have to feed the body so it could continue to produce that heat energy.

The human body converts the energy in food and drink to power itself -- it inherantly gives out less energy than it takes in due to having to keep its own functions going -- therefore would be useless as a power source ---- it would be like connecting your PC to the mains then connecting a telly to the PC and claiming that the PC was powering the tv all by itself. --- and if you only wanted the TV (as in the matrix them only wanting the power from the humans) then it would be a silly way to do it as the PC is just wasting power in the middle running itself

(thats what happens in teh sun, its jsut it takes such huge energies to start it that we havent managed it yet, but they are building a bigger better particle accelerator to continue the researchinto it, not due til about 2010 iirc tho)

Isnt nuclear fission what happens in the sun? Something about fusing hydrogen and oxygen which creates massive amounts of energy, the byproduct of which being pure water .. something like that. Not possible to recreate it unnaturaly though .. yet

The U.S navy haven't stopped working on Cold Fusion since it was last a hot topic, and they've released (inconclusive) studies that show sustained energy output higher than that which is pumped in (by about 4% I believe, though I may be wrong).

It'll probably amount to nothing but ghosts in the machine, but its nice to hope, isn't it.

Fission is splitting an atom - Fusion is fusing 2 nuclei together. Fusion occurs in the sun due to the extremely high pressures and temperatures.

TBH I'm more interested in the prospect of running our cars with Fuel Cells, or even powering my house with a Fuel Cell, so I'm not connected to the National Grid.

Oh, and it's fusion that powers the Sun. Fission powers nuclear reactors and A-Bombs. H-bombs use fusion but they require a fission explosion the start the fusion one.

that's only for use in space, it wouldn't push a feather on Earth.
