Alternative battleground action

Many of us are disappointed that Thidranki is shut for them, be it on RPs or level. I'm equally disappointed to see that BG2 and BG3 are so underused. To rectify this, I'm throwing down the gauntlets to all realms to visit the other BGs they can starting at 2pm UK time Sunday 6th October. I have a runie and a hunter that can visit BG3, so I'll port there at the aforementioned time.

Spread the word and let's see some action for lower level characters!

Of course it would help if people could say they are willing to attend in this thread, so as to encourage others to come along.

Whats the top lvl limit on bg3? 34 or 35?

20-24 24-29 30-35 also as you know there are rp limits also . i deleted my alts recently because i was spending to much time plying them or usa server to bother to exp my mai here . so it was adios alts so i could exp theurg :0 now 50 and started lvling a friar and paladin"pvp server practice" so ill be there in a week or so

Ebeneezer: Exactly this was what I was about to post... trying to get more action, to start this we could have a few times set up to have some fun at... but why only 1 day a week? I mean... You will level past those bg's in a week... Let's make it something like 8pm GMT/ 9pm CET every Day! Or something like that atleast... Think it would be a great way to get more action

Anyone else up for this?

Yeah great idea.

Not a good show so far. Took my runie to BG3 and you could see tumbleweed blowing around the central keep

I went in at 2:10pm Sunday, before checking who was in......

And you guessed it - 0 players.

I'll give it a look tonight, but I dont hold much hope of any albs or hibs - even if you can get a few mids in.

BG 2 and 3 will never refill, because of the flaws in the mechanics of high level XP.

im a commited BG1 player now, roll, level, cap, reroll...i can play the variety of 4 or 5 different chars in the time it takes you to get to the 40s.

p.s alot of people wont level new chars past 24 because alot of people are waiting to see how PvP pans out. me included.

good luck with it though,i remember a couple of weeks after the patch, when my l35 troll skald led the famous keep defence, where 12 mids defeated 40 albs in the lords room. oh mezz, we love you.

Aww come on, Mack! Don't ruin this. Theoretically, you could actually have fun in BG2 & 3, "like in the good old days". Believe it or not.

And while you may be able to lvl up X number of chars to 24 by the means of double accounting (no pun intended...) before the rest of us get to 40, I seriously doubt you can equip and group xp one char from 1 to 24 in the time you could group xp from 24 to 29. Think about it, Mack TheKnife could have been 29 or 34 even and meaner than ever. And also have the option to go to 50 with a new exciting class. Instead you just killed him. Whose side are you on really? Albion's?!

Exactly Bister.... I lvl'ed from 24 to 29.9 in two days (irl time, maybe around 15h or less played time), and I doubt you get a new char up to 24 that fast...
But you got a point in what you are saying Krogar... A lot of people want to try out different chars before chosing what to go for on PvP server, but I'm quite sure that many continue xp'ing up there chars after thidranki, even tho many just delete their chars :/

all im stating to you is the facts guys

there are alot of people, unwilling to invest going past 24 at the moment, because they want to see what PvP is going to be like.

and until that settles down, like DF settled down, you will see little or no action on BG2 or BG3.

them's the facts, plain and simple.

and XYZ correctly sees that variety is the spice of life, playing 3 chars to 34 in the time that you level 1 is more fun for some people, however i dont disregard your choice or opinion to continue with your own choice of taking whatever class you choose to, upto high levels.

another thing why there is a large subsection of BG players is how the XP mechanic works......on levels 1 to 24, i can see real gains in an hour or twos play. beyond the high 30s....you need to start making 3 and 4 (and more) hour playing sessions to see you bar moving...this is not invented, this is from hard earnt experience (2 chars to mid 40s). for some people, with other constraints on their time, regular 3-4+ hour playing sessions is asking alot.

those are just my views, and i am not against your calls for more action on bg2 or 3, just stating my views why, at present, this is difficult.

and to bister, if i didnt have to delete mack, and could have left him in a free slot, i would have loved to, cos he was a great char, but i wanted to try some new chars. thats the way it is.

Only probelm is that becuase there is very few people the ones who do go are have rp withdrawl symproms, so say i went with my friar and there were 4 mids, they would all charge kill me fast and then i wouldn't bother coming back so they would have less rps, shame people like that don't have sense.

I guess we need to arrange full groups to come along at a certain time. 8 v 8 battles are great.

Any hib or alb fancy getting 8 names together? I'll try and get 8 mids. Once we have some names we can arrange a time and place for a standoff
