For anyone still wondering what its like, this review pretty much nails it on the head - closest review for it so far, most reviews made about it are made by COD fanboys that haven't got a clue what they're talking about.

I disagree with the review the campaign is good and the attention to little details is great for the fans but everything else is just horrible.

The worst AI in a game for years I've had Aliens walk round in circles and come right up to me and turn round and walk off, animations are shit very basic stuff. The graphics really are 5-6 years old.

He was right about multiplayer it's pure garbage.

I'll give it 5/10, Rebellions effort for AvP 2010 was a million times better.

Multiplayer is not fine by any stretch of the imagination, hit detection is garbage and it lags oh boy does it lag, every time I join a game the 1 person who has full green bars is the host and everyone else has 2 yellow bars.

Apart from the trophy kills AvP was a great fun game and better in every way.

I have it on both I've only played about 6 matches mind you this morning and think I was playing with Americans, might explain the lag.

AVP had no soul is the best way i can describe it
the "campaign" was disjointed, rather shit, lacked any atmosphere
the multiplayer was buggy, boring, and suffered seriously from HERPADERPA kids everywhere.. and while thats hardly unique, the combination put me off it rather quickly
plus the weapons didnt 'feel' right

The campaign in this is better? Least the Marine campaign had some build up to meeting the Aliens, this I was blasting Aliens in 5mins, there was no build up at all.

Meh, I trust eurogamer reviews about as much as I trust the british government. Having played it first hand and finished it on the hardest difficulty with Mabs my own conclusions are:

Single-Player Campaign: 4/10 - heavily let down by the AI of Aliens ignoring AI team mates completely and just rushing you none stop + Weyland troops being ridiculous accuracy wise and extremely stupid at times
Co-op Campaign: 7/10 - Was fun, AI issues werent as bad with multiple people playing it - still think it lacked in areas tho, specifically story and voice acting
Multi-Player: Not tried it yet, Mabs tells me it is quite fun tho so no idea what to say there

Conclusion: if you are going to buy it wait until it goes down in price, do not play it by yourself (don't even buy it if you're a billy no mates) and play it on nothing but the hardest difficulty. Not worth £30, prob worth £5-10 max.

That's the problem they believe reviewers who either A) haven't got a clue what they're talking about B) Moan about the slightest difference C) Have only played through single player and thus label the entire game trash or D) are just cunts in general.

Same as I was saying to Mabs earlier - its by no means the best game ever made - far from it infact, but it deserves better marks than its been getting by COD fanboys. Most people are giving it 3/10 - 44/100 etc, its atleast a 60 for the reasons I've already put forward above. People that judge a game solely on graphics are fucking mongoloids that shouldn't be putting reviews out quite frankly.

seems more than a slight difference in gfx there taking away most of the atmosphere .. think the main point tho was the demo was a lot better looking than the final and they sold based on the demo ppl had played

Well I'm speaking from a purely outsider standpoint, I've never played the game and probably never will until Steam are flogging it for a few quid. It doesn't seem to be a case of CoD fanboys flocking to disregard a game because of a few graphical errors, that's the least of the problems from what I've read.

Jim Sterling's review pretty much sealed it for me, and I'd hardly call him a CoD fanboy by any stretch; if anything a die hard Alien fan who's pissed the game was marketed (for how long? 5+ years?) as something that turned out to be completely different.
