Righty.... time for Skyler to have some insight on this joyous discussion....
There are many people who use female names in CS, most of them arent female. They get a fair bit of abuse directed at them, but no more than others get. I've played CS for almost 3 years now, I've seen so much abuse. We all get abuse, from many people, for different reasons, the main one is the fact we are winning. When these people lose to you they find anything they can to try and insult you and weaken you via abuse. Its a natural reaction for some. If they knew someone was black, they would use racist comments against them, if they knew someone was jewish, they would use jew related insults at them, same way if they know youre female, they will use anti female insults. There is no way around abuse, it will always come, it cant be filtered, any method of filtering is easily got around. Abuse is not GSP specific either, there is just as much abuse on BY, plus the added fact the people that hate you for winning can TK you instead of abusing you, which is much more effective.
Just because your female we cant be expected to stop the abuse specifically because of that reason. Everyone gets abused in CS, its part of the game, we could do without it but it wont ever disappear. Some may get it more than others, but thats just how it is, usually depends on how detirmined they are to annoy you, or how much youre beating them by, or even another reason known only to them.
As an admin I try to curb abuse whenever I see, whoever its directed at, but I'm not going to dictate to people what they can and cant say, free speech and all. If someone abuses constantly, spamming etc. or perhaps knifing constantly etc. then I will take action. Only a few hours ago I kicked an abuser of me because I was doing better than him.
Bottom line is: We all get abuse, we must all deal with it, if you cant deal with it, dont play the game.

Well, i think if abuse is there... And someone is clearly just being abusive, then it has to be stopped. Saying that you won't tell soemone off for being abusive is stupid.
The fact is, no good comes from abuse, and abuse is clear. The only situation where someone could be abusive, and actually isn't, is if people are joking:
``Leicester blows goats''...
Hmm, not a good example, Leicester *does* blow goats(as do the residents of derby for that matter), and it's a fact so it's not abuse...
Hmm, well the point is that i don't think there's any need for abuse, so if someone is being abused verbally, and they complain, the guy with the social problems gets a cuff on the wrist. Put it this way: Instances of people being called ``Gay'' in RL are rare, in CS they're common place. It's clear people act like twats because they can, so the RL action of a slap needs to be replaced by something, in this case an admin's warning.

I'm was not asking for special treatment
and sorry guys for having to keep repeating my point here :sleeping: the point was i know that lots of abuse is thrown about in the game but personal insults are not what any of us go on to get, and so a admin should in my opinion stop it if and when they can.
And as for the bottom line : Dont Play The Game : Are you mad what else would i do in the evenings

I have a feeling that the insults Lara received were a little bit more than a simple anti-girl comment. I assume whatever it was was a) pretty offensive and b) went on for a long time. And, as most normal people have said, she shouldn't have to put up with that. I'm sure she puts up with far more abuse than Richard there gets for his camp names.
This isn't exactly a challenging on. Most people agree that this sort of abuse isn't needed, including all the admins who have had any input. I think I can added the thread closed banner now...

I would have given a warning. Ive gave warning to other players for calling other players cheats etc.
Abuse isnt tolerated in my book. They would recieve 1 warning then a kick if they didnt stop.

Well you can mute the voices, but in 1.4 u can mute others text ones aswell.

The bottom line is that voice could be muted, there would be no need for the admin to take action if it was simply voice abuse. Text abuse is a different matter, if its light hearted joking once in a while its just part of online gaming. However repeated or vindictive abuse shouldn't be tolerated and I would think that the admins would know this and take action (although the response of some admins doesnt give me faith in them having a clue as to what we expect from them).
