Yeah we had a mini tribute at work, played her albums most of teh day.

22 and about to enter the prime of her career, a role in The Matrix 2, and a new album ready to be released.

Much as I hate sarcasm...

Yes it was tragic, after all her life was worth SO much more than the EIGHT other people who also died.

The media can SMB.

Teh 8 other poeple were all named as well, just no none of them was as renounded as she was.

ONly one album will come out i think, and that was the one she had just finished recording.

A person is a person.....no matter what they do. No one person is more important than another since life is unique ;)

Tell that to the woman who came int o buy a newspaper on saturday.

It had a picture of Diana on the front

"its like hse is still with us" she says, "it makes me sad to see she died".

Bloody hell some of the poeple in britain have nothing better to do than mourne people they didnt know.

Anyway, Aliyah's death left me feeling a bit wierd, cause I like her and her music. So to me it means more than the other 8 people that died.

The only decent person to die recently (by "recently" i mean within the last year or so) was the brilliant Douglas Adams.

What i meant was that, as you will all no doubt agree, a decent person, due in no small part to his excellent Hitchikers guide to the galaxy books. Anyway, he was a decent person, and he died. Now, as far as I can recollect, there have been no other people who i consider to be "decent", die recently.

This is in no way meant to offend any of the other people who died, most of which may well of been decent people, just I didn't know / heard of.

Man, im having to explain myself a lot to day. :)

I worked at HMV when Freddie Mercury died and it was announced to the public in newsflashes about 7pm.
The next day when I got into work at 9am the stockroom was piled high with boxes from EMI containing hundreds of copies of each Queen album.

I know how fast the turn around is on orders and that was too fast so I enquired with a couple of EMI reps. Apparently EMI approached HMV/Virgin/Tower etc and asked em to place an order before he died so they could ship it as soon as he did.
Still think the announcment was delayed tho to ensure EMI had fulfilled all the orders.

That's what record companies think of their artist's. Dying is a money spinner...nothing more..nothing less. There was a similar episode when Kurt Cobain shot himself..(obviously that caught Geffen on the hop) but the record companies seem to have an emergency death distribution plan to ensure shops are fully stocked to cash in on sales ASAP....(Elton John...Candle in the wind anyone?)

Anyway...it is sad someone so young with so much to offer has died. Can't say I liked her music but still a shame.

I'm waiting for the Queen Mother to die, that should be a real laugh although with the rate she's getting through other peoples blood it may be a long wait ;)

I don't want the Queen Mother to die. Sure, she's a complete waste of resources and money, but we'd never hear the fucking end of it from the media telling us how utterly "wonderful" and "special" she was.

Yeah - It would be like 1966 all over again.

Last thing we want.

It's like that every World Cup as it is.

The triumphant England laying waste to its foes. Except we then go out in the qualifiers.

Personally I can't fucking wait for the Queen Mother to die. We're bound to get a holiday out of it.

Although the BBC is going to be a nightmare for a month afterwards...

Aye, free holiday...for at least a few days. But you're right, it may not be worth the constant and unrelentless barrage of shit that will fill TVs for months
