I have to admit to one act of petty revenge. Many years ago I went out with this girl who went off to sell Timeshares in Tenerife. We called each other all the time, all lovey-dovey and I went over to see her for Christmas. Something was obviously up when I arrived, and after around 3 days she told me she'd met someone else a few days before I flew out. On my last night I shagged her best mate and flushed her (the ex, not the best mate) birth control pills down the bog (this was the eighties and Spain was still pretty old fashioned about the pill, so it wasn't trivial). Petty I know, but I can't honestly say I regret it.

a) Use condoms
b) Stop sleeping with him

The only revenge I had on my ex took place about two months after we broke up when she phoned me to tell me she was moving away to the south of England (from Scotland......) - in retrospect I suspect she met him on holiday when we were still together, "fell in love" and decided to break up with me and pursue a relationship with someone else she met on the other side of the country. The conversation went something like:

"blah blah, just phoning to say hi and goodbye, blah blah"

"oh? why are you telling me this?"

"I just didn't like the way things were left between us"

"oh? so why are you moving away?"

"I met a wonderful guy in Brighton when I was visiting friends there, he treats me right and is so romantic; he does things for me that you would never have done - he picked me up from the airport with a bucket of roses in his car, he buys me things, blah blah, massive donkey cock etc."

Six months go past, I had met someone else myself, was over it (never realised why I was so upset) and was very happy. I heard through my friend network that she was back living in Scotland, so I got in contact with her through social networking.

I said: "So you're back in Scotland?"

She said: "Please don't tell anyone this, but I moved in with said guy and after a couple of months he started to change and ended up beating me up a few times, i've been to the police and i've got to go to court blah blah, didn't realise what we had, blah blah, at christmas time I really missed the christmas dinners we had together blah blah"

I said: "oh that's a crying shame, hope you get it sorted".

I wouldn't wish harm on anyone, but I freely admit I felt really fucking smug inside. That's what happens when you dump someone and move in with someone you don't know because you fell for their romantic shite during the holiday period.
