A suggestion for all 3 realms, Vis: Emain

Okay, this has worked on one of the US servers, and judging by the community 'feel' about Emain at the moment, I think it could work on Prydwen too.

We all dislike the zerg, we all prefer 1g v 1g or 2g v 2g RvR... yet we do nothing about it, and toddle off to Emain every day to get our daily intake of RPs.

How about a week of banning Emain from your RvR schedules? Instead of porting over there, spend an extra 10 minutes getting to your own frontier portal keep zone, or porting to the 'other' realm zone - Odin's/Hadrian's for Hibernia, Midgard and Albion for one week. Reckon we can do it?

With any luck, social inertia would carry this on afterwards. Instead of "The daily zerg" it'd be "The daily hunt for enemy realm members."

And with the new year coming... good a date as any to start this would be January the 1st, for 1 week.

Whaddya say?

Well done Roalith an idea like this might be enough to put some people off the emain zerg and find more enjoyment in the other frontier areas! Ill be there mate!

Only one problem, albion and midgard need to port to emain to get to other hibernian frontiers, this will inevitably mean that hibernians will venture to emain in order to stop the influx of invaders, and if the albs and the mids happen to meet on the way to the other frontiers then also massacre would ensue.

Nice idea, but the emain mindset is not so easily swayed.

Blain I dont think he meant Briefine, Cruachan Gorge or Mount Collory when he said 'the other frontiers'. He rather meant Hadrian's Wall, Pennie Mountains, Forest Sauvage, Snowdonia, Odin's Gate, Jamtland Mountains, Uppland or Yggdra Forrest. (Woot this game has 12 frontier zones!!! I always thought there was only Emain!)

Got it one Jeriraa. It's a suggestion that we leave Emain, and therefore the rest of the Hibernian frontier alone for 1 week. Just to see if we can keep RvR out of Emain for that long.

Don't make generalisations like that, has it ever occured to you that people might like the zerg and thats why they go back... look at the number of people who post here and look at the number playing...

More people play than post here and has it occured to you that some people might go to emain for the zerg and because they like it? You can't say everyone dislikes the zerg because of the small % that post here say they don't.

Ohh and for the record most of the RvR I have done has been in the gorge or odins, however, when I have 1 hour and want to have some fun I go to emain because I am guarenteed to see the enemy. Sure 1fg V 1fg may be more fun but sometimes I just want to shoot some arrows in a caster without worrying about breaking mez etc.....

Okay, I won't generalise.

Judging by the attitude both on the boards and in-game, the greater majority of people dislike the zerg.

That better?

This is another part of the point I'm trying to make though, Dewey. Instead of having a guaranteed port to emain and bump into enemy, this would enable porting or running to anywhere and bumping into the enemy. Sufficient numbers of the enemy to have fun, and not sufficient numbers to get steamrollered - IE Emain.

tbh, with pryd being one of the lowest population servers in the world I don't think there will ever be a time other than real prime time when you can be guarenteed to meet member of another realm in any of the 13 (4 for each realm + DF) and soon to be a few more RvR zones. The question is this; do you want to sacrifice the fun of casual gamers so you, and anyone else with the time/dedication to run around looking for a fight for many hours, can spend 5 hours having good group v group combat? The emain zerg has it's benefits and your cause is indeed noble, It think, however, it ain't going to change much because when people realise they can't be guarenteed a fight they are gonna head back to emain.......

I'm a casual gamer myself. I don't have any level 50s. When I do RvR, I only leave our frontier if Albion have all of our keeps - I expect to be RvRing a lot more once I'm 50, obviously.

As far as 'hunting around for hours for a battle' goes, I seriously don't think it'll be that hard.

One person gets killed by 1 FG in Hadrian's wall. That person informs his guild. Guild officer informs the alliance. Other people in the alliance inform friends, who in turn inform their own alliances.

Queue 1 or 2 groups heading up to Hadrian's wall to find and kill the people who killed the first person.

Edit:

Not even that situation is entirely relevent. If we can get people out of Emain, you WILL find people in Odin's Gate, and Hadrian's wall - whether they've just ported in and are heading to other destinations in the frontiers, or if they're just wandering around OG or HW looking for a fight. Try it, and find out.

To be honest Dewey the reason you said everyone goes to Emain is spot on, but its also causing the problem of the other frontiers being rather ignored by a large chunk of players simply because they think there will be no action there. Bit of a vicious circle really..

There are a lot of empty spaces out there (its a huge game world) and there will always be times running around looking for the enemy, but I would rather 1 hour of chasing around for a brilliant skirmish in a new environment than 1 hour of F8/F6 any day in those well trodden hills of Emain.

ive been running around odin/hadrian for a long time solo now... and noticed more and more people tend to come there lately.... ive actually needed to bring backup when going to hadrian...
great fun there, more people should go alb and familiarize with the place.

Having spoken to a large portion of the Albion guild leaders, I think it is safe to say that much of Albion will be supporting Anti-Emain week.

Now it's your turn, Midgard :D
