You could check the playlists of "Gates Of Elyzium" here in Holland, it has a variety of Metal, Rock, Goth, DnB and quite alot more actually.
You can find the playlists here (Dutch Forum, but the playlists are readable, do mind that the forum skin is ugly if you don't register :D): http://forum.wolweze.nl/viewforum.php?f=8

Other then that, theres things like Bomfunk MC's, Audio Bullys, Scissor Sisters, Daft Punk, Junkie XL, Mike & The Mechanics (lounge with vocals), Peter Pan Speedrock, Flightcrank(downtempo project from Leeroy Thornhilly[the black guy from Prodigy]), The Stork and also some other-then-standard metal like Norther or Skyforger

Either way, check arround and yer always bound to find something deleciously odd yet highly enjoyable :D

Why do not so many people listen to the classics :

Pantera, one of the best (now split) metalbands ever in the history of metal. Tracks to download, floods, clash with reality, cowboys from hell

Down, Phil anselmo from pantera...less heavy metal, still bloody great though and 'eyes of the south' has the best metal intro to a song I think I've ever heard.

OLD machinehead, the start of a lot of bad changes in metal but they themselves were good. Until they bought out supercharger at least. Try davidian & old for a taster

Carcass if you don't mind their singing. The guitarist was challenged by a friend who said he wouldn't be able to create a metal band so he went out, got together a band and got signed :p Black star is an awesome song again, if you want a taster.

Metallica, no-one mentioned them yet? Not sure if you've heard stuff by them but don't go by their new stuff when forming an opinion and for Gods sake, don't say you wont listen to them because of the napster issue, is music you like LISTENING to really politics? orion, master of puppets, fade to black for tasters.

Jason Becker if you want to listen to an awesome guitarist although it is very much softer content and in parts, classical. Altitudes is just an incredible piece.

System of a down if you want something a bit newer with originality. Spiders, sugar, Suite-pee :)

Aerosmith if you just wanna smile. Dream on, Livin on the edge, dude looks likea lady are a few of the more commonly known tracks. Flesh and 'voodoo medicine man' are awesome unrecognised ones.

Deftones although they've recently disappeared it seems are one of the newer bands I grew up listening to, along with old Korn are a couple of the older 'nu metal' bands which aren't nearly as bad. Just ignore john davis in korn whinging and it'll be something new for you which you might like.

Iron maiden if you want more of a singing melody metal band but most people are put off by the voice and a friend of mine said every time he listened to them he wanted to put on platemail, get a horse and ride onto the hills.....lol. Very much medieval style lyrics. Songs, number of the beast, fear of the dark, journeyman to get a full range of their songs.

Motorhead? balck sabbath? I don't know if you wanna try older stuff or not but it's better then most garbage which is comming out these days.

But what've you got to loose by trying out new stuff anyways...5minutes of your life? :p

I always try to mention some bands that few others on these borads would recommend :)

But yeah, I agree to all of those above. Great bands all of them and I take it for granted that people listen to them :D

Oh lol, i took you for some random bloke who just made a clueless comment about lyrics like dimmu's while listening to popmusic yourself.

Anyhow, each to his own. I think the lyrics are totally fine, though I don't listen that much to Dimmu nowadays.
Amon Amarth's lyrics kinda appeals more to me now (Beheading of a king, to name on song). Viking metal as some call it. r0x :)

gonna see Amon Amarth live =)) yeeehaaaa....Rock Hard festival in Germany:

-Amon Amarth
-Children of Bodom
-Sonata Arctica

and many more I don't know (yet)

Try some Keane, :).

sorry, keane are probably the worst band out at the moment. the fat lead singer with his Double - barreled name just piss's me right off,(and yes thats even including mcfly). think there music lacks something, probably because they dont want a guitarist in their band.

Try Kasabian (great album - its got a kind of "different" twist to it like you mentioned you wanted) or some old sk00l Beastie Boys. (Intergalatic Planetary ftw)

Kings of Leon are also very good atm, close between the two albums but "Of Youth and Young Manhood" (the 1st one - buy both tbh.) is probably the best- but his voice does take some getting used to.

but yeh, Kasabian are my fave atm, if you fancy making a DAoC vid, its perfect music for that :>
