Lets throw in The Zutons, Franz Ferdinand etc into that lot :p could also try the hives :)

Please don't make me throw my sound system out of the window!!

As I said I have a pretty broad musical taste, but I draw the line at mass produced indy-esque shit. Its not that I don't particularly like it, I just find it as stimulating as a small square of chipboard. Except for the Hives, who I really hate ;) (saw them live at the Leeds festival a couple of years ago - I was almost swept away by the hordes of people trying to run away from the main stage)

And high pitched vocal metal as in Nightwish type stuff? Will give Dragonforce a try anyway - yay for free mp3 downloads!

Hmm I've just made myself appear to have a really blinkered musical taste.... ah well

I didn't say that the Hives were rubbish, I just said I hate them - there's a small but significant difference ;)

Incidentally why do so many people not like Eminem? Is it because of the hype? Or that they don't like the genre, or the subjects he writes about?

Nah tis because he sounds like a whiny 13 year old boy whose balls havent dropped. Oh and the backing music is shite too.

lol, only good rap is no rap!

On a serious note, i quess the more underground stuff, not the main stream would be a good start.

Clawfinger were good for 1 album then they rinse repeated every song/riff for everything else they ever did :( Kill2this were great too untill that idiot Mark Mynett sacked the whole band about 15 times

I think you should put away those pre conceptions and listen to Insane Clown Posse instead for a good laugh :D

Chemical Brothers every album is really good too

Eminem was ok until about 4 or 5 years ago, now he's just another pop rapper. Cypress Hill are the best rap group ever imo, I own all of their albums except for that spanish one! Dizzee Rascal is ok, I liked "Fix up, Look sharp" but the rest of his stuff is a bit too garage for me. (I don't really mind garage, but I can't stand it when someone is MCing/singing over it)

edit: yeah forgot to mention that the latest Cypress Hill album is crap, they should've stopped at Stoned Raiders. Temples of Boom is my favourite, love that album.

its all about personal taste tho innit. If everyone liked exactly the same stuff it would be borin.

For the record, i personally think Eminem is a very talented "musician". No one can get a crowd going like him. He is also a cracking freestyler, much better than anything the uk can produce (again, in my opinion ofc). Although saying that, at the raves i used to go to there were some really talented freestylers (MC's). Was one guy who used to MC at Kinetic and Helter Skelter, erm, fck, Mc Magik i think, never heard anything like it.

Suppose you could enjoy most of Tool's works. Pure quality if you ask me.

I've kinda got a broad music taste myself aswell, can even listen to some list music but that's rather rare :)

I'm not going to guarantee you'll like any of this but I'll list some bands/albums I would personally recommend:

Death - Leprosy
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
The Haunted - The Haunted made me do it , rEVOLVEr
The Old Dead Tree - The Nameless Disease

And for my hip-hop input I'll recommend "Non Phixion - The Future is now"

I'll just leave it like that or the list might get a tad long ^^

Guano Apes are pretty decent, though some of their tracks are bloody awful.
They're a sorta Rock Band without the heavyness that makes you want to cringe

Ideally something that combines industrial/metal with good dance music and maybe a little hip-hop.
try the real industrial music, should be 'metal' enough even though they aren;t. bands like Wumpscut, velvet acid christ, taktical sekt, psyclon nine. Or maybe something like the chemical brothers?

Eminem is kool he disses his mom!

That's what I think of his listeners anyway :p

I've been going through some soundtracks and I like the ones for king arthur, last samurai and braveheart... quite a few good ones out there for easy going music while working etc. Been through Conan the barbarian/destroyer soundtracks, but neither have the main theme. Anyone know what that's called? :p
