aye, had a pm from him, and I've replied. Think we're on the same wavelength tbh.

I have NO issue whatsoever with lighthearted names ingame at all, and I think whoever reported Tyraette's charname is a sad git with nothing better to do.

I have only seen a couple of offensive names ingame, and only ever reported one which was TOTALLY disgusting to any rightminded person.
Yes some people have stupid names, so what ? It's a GAME, and the euro servers are not enforced RP.

For goodness sake. For brevity go read Linnet's post. A religious Jew will not say the name 'Jehovah' out loud, or even type it/write it. Also for Christians who know and understand their faith using that name is a definite no-no. Go check your Bibles, see all those references to LORD? This is where God's name was and got took out.

If people thought it was too holy to use in the Bible, what place does it have being attached to a character in a game?!

Please accept that to some of us that name is sacred and shouldn't be used in a mere game. A little respect goes a long way.

Turamber - I am not getting at Jehovah's name change. I get and understand that completely. However, I share Tyr's annoyance at the loss of Shaeffer's surname, which really was harmless, and no one has stepped foreward to say they were offended at that (rather bad) pun.

It would be nice to see the same respect for us Pagans as all the other religions you were just defending though <grins> Evil Pagans. Indeed

Yeah. The Jehovah thing was buried a LONG time ago. This is about Shaeffer Shex.. we've wandered around Thidranki asking people if they are offended by the name, and we usually get:

a) no, its funny
or
b) no, could you explain it

and when we do that, they usually find it mildly amusing. Its harsh that he had to change a name. It ISNT a sexual reference, and even if it is, it is a sexual reference that gets hammered into kids in school from the age of 10 (I've been there).

I just feel its a little petty. Strikes me that this topic reminded GOA of the lax naming policy, and they grabbed at the first name they saw.

I would also think that a name that reminded people in funny way to take care would do good, rather than cause offence.

And how about nala lionne..... if u hadn't guessed she named herself due to the film the lion king with its main female character being a lion called nala.

Actually, that's not true. I hadn't seen the film when I named my character. I took the sirname after I was told, but the first name wasn't from the film, it was just chance.

I have no faith in the E&E system myself, having seen the kind of people selected for this (as previously mentioned, the retarded kid known as Para Medic was an E&E at one time), and they obviously don't take it upon themselves to report clear violations of the CoC, especially when members of their own guilds blatantly violates it.

One of these days I'll make a list of every offensive name and send it to GOA, just to see if there's a reaction. Spiteful, perhaps, but one does grow weary of all the copyrighted/profanely named characters out there.

As for the person who claimed these people probably havn't read the CoC, I'm willing to concur
