Greetings from the dark, long forgotten, murky history of BW. Those that remember me might recall the exceptionally lovely moderator who helped out there. If you remember an evil, hateful, oppressive moderator, then, erm, that was someone else entirely :)

I'm having a book launch on the 18th of July in Methvens, Canterbury, at 7.30 PM. If any of you remember me, and want to come along, please do. If any of you don't remember me, but are tempted by the thought of free wine, then you are invited all the same :)

:m00:

You don't see the likes of Damini around these parts to often. Too busy livin' it up in the general section, I reckons. Ayip.

I am gonna buy a copy of yer book but would you be able to sign it for me if I send it to your top secret Damini Cave™ with a SAE? Then when you are more famous than whatserface and that guy with the hat combined I will sell it on ebay for £10,000,000!! Muahaha! Or maybe I'll take it on the antiquey roadshow when I am 95 and watch those smug know-it-all gits drool all over an authentic signed copy of your book, tell them the wonderful little story of how it came into my possession and then laugh in their face when they ask me if I want to sell it.

Blimey. Well done Damini!

I work in Borders and I had a quick look on BookData today when getting my copy of your book. I noticed that your publishers have already given a date for the second book in the series, 14 July 2006. Welcome to the world of publishing deadlines! :D Any reason for choosing a release date so very close to Harry Potter though?

Also can I get your address too, I want a signed copy too! :)

EDIT: The Invisible Friend - for Ezteq

Damini won a competition run by the BBC with her intro paragraph to the Invisible Friend.

She got the most votes for which book people would like to see published because it was the best one there :)

You have a partner, does he know about your seedy MMORPG past?

Job, I introduced my bloke to UO, way before DAoC and now WoW, and he's worse with mmorpgs than I am by a LONG shot now. I have nothing to hide (other than my fixation with Aragorn, and the fact that my partner believes I am only buying one kitten next month, when I fully intend to buy two and pretend a stray crawled in the basket).

Other questions - it said I used to be a stand up, but thats not strictly true. I studied stand up comedy, and performed a good few times, a couple times to paying audiences and also in turn got paid, but I think that makes me more of a dabbler than really a professional stand up. It was an error on the early drafts that was changed later. Stand up gives me way too much fear - its enjoyable, and thrilling, but not enough to balance out the all encompassing terror that I felt before performing.

It wasn't hard to get a publisher to read my book, because I have an agent, and they do all the persuasive things that agents need to do. I've been very lucky.

If anyone does want me to sign it, just send me a PM, and I'll sort you out with my address. Probably not the most professional way to do it, but this is all very new to me.

You could always try and convince WPK that your kitten is in fact a mogwai and you accidently spilled some water on the little blighter. "

Looks like this will be doable, but still need to confirm. Quite fancy ambling down Canterbury way. Even I can navigate M25 and M2.

If Shaeffer comes along, we'll be heading back as his work schedule is more fixed than mine, but otherwise might be tempted to find a hotel and spend the next day taking in the sights. I'll see if Chimpodemus is up for it.

It's great to hear The Book is finally finished :)

I'd have thought it would be more Seelish to swap the cover with something like Mein Kampf, sign it as Damini, then wait to see the look on people's faces when they picked it up.

Well, I've just heard they are charging a pound to get into the signing (I guess to cover the cost of the wine, which may will give an indication of the calibre of wine being served!) and I also found out from picking up a flier that I am doing a reading. Joy. Anyone want to dress up as me, and read from my book?

Roo, it would be lovely to meet you and Shaeffer, so I do hope you can make it down. Besides, you should get used to book launches, since you will have to have your own one at some stage.

It's Roo we're talking about. He probably thought about doing that mein kampf switch, noticed it wasn't that good an idea and now tries to pin it on me. Grr...those pesky goodie two shoe jedi's and their propadanga...
