I think a better graphics card would probably give you a better performance increase for your money. Then again, I don't really know how much of a gap there is between Athlons and Durexes.

Both would be nice ;)

*sighs at red ink on bank balance*

I can prolly just about play the new games on low detail, considering the tests are done in higher res to what I normally play in, I should have some breathing space. :(

Tho that may change come christmas when the new Shit comes out.

Ok, how's this for weird:

I get 2489, then realise I'm on 2x AGP.

So I enable 4x AGP.

I re-run the benchmark.

I get 2393.

I get confused...

4500 ish on a P4 1.7, 512MB RDRAM, ATi Radeon 64Mb DDR and Windows XP.

Should get some really nice scores if I decide to slot in a Radeon 9700 tho :)

I have just taken delivery of a new 19" TFT screen and my 3DMark SE has gone up from 8500 'ish to 9500 'ish (P4 2Ghz, Ti4200, 512 Mb DDR.

I know the response time of the screen is better (15ms as opposed to 20 odd), but I'm (pleasently) suprised by the size of the increase :)

My new & best benchmark 2627

I am now 3rd in the mad onion project database for duron 850 , gf2mx/mx400, windows 2000. With 3 pages of projects. It's amazing to see the variation of computers with the same as me, they go low as 1001 and I thought my orginal 1906 was shitty.

No.2 is 2648

No.1 is 2656

So not much in it. :-\

Any way I have taken my current setup as far as it'll go, :D

Now to start to think seriously of upgrading

Strange, normally it's in the high 9000's but today it seems to excelled itself

New nVidia drivers and Latest 4-in-1s gives me:

2365.

Puts me above average for my GFX card so that'll do me fine :D
