Hey SG, there's going to be a million and one things to sort out, just like the car insurance, but plod through them one at a time and you soon start knocking them off.
Give the car insurance company a ring. My Ma was in a similar situation as a named driver on Dads car, they just transferred the policy into Mums name, and said call us back within 28 days to sort something more permanent out.
You'll probably find that most people are really helpful when you pick up the phone to them.
First thing I did when Dad died, was set up a ring binder with a bunch of seperators in it. It really helps to keep a record of what you have done/who you have informed. My dads estate was really quite complicated so there was a heap of things to get done, it's easy to lose track of what you have and havent sorted out. Have sections for Solicitors, Funeral Arrangements, Credit Card Companies etc. Then whenever you need to put your hands on something it's right there.
