At the moment my dad's in hospital due to some problems around his heart/lungs, hes been off/on the past month or two, he came out of hospital just before christmas because of a leg injury, where his leg went 3 times bigger, thankfully they managed to sort this and he was home before christmas.

However shortly after new year, he has been developing some problems where doing the simpliest activity, he would be finding it hard to breathe, like, going into the kitchen would require him to take an asthma-style thing and he would be okay.

Generally the worst ive seen is when he was coming upstairs, it would take an eternity for this and when he got to the base he would be winded for about 5min trying to catch his breath again.

My mum got concerned a few days ago and she called for an ambulance, who came and picked him up, since then we have found that he has kidney problems, and he has water around his heart and lungs as a result. He was apparently alright, however last night he apparently took a turn for the worst, to a point hes in a critical condition, and theyre saying the next few days are vital.

I really do hate hospitals, ive never liked em since my bro was in, and i didnt go much the last time he was in because it just made me, i dont know, woozy and i hate the places, but a new kind of worry has popped up, because ive been fearing this for a long time now

At the moment i think im in the shock factor, i didnt have too much emotion about it during the day with everyone around, i spoke to my brothers pretty much individually about it, which actually felt good, since its been a while since any of us have done that.

Then all my brothers where together at our house and we just stood around talking about all the good things, they said it hadnt hit me yet about what had happened, which at the time felt true.

After a few hours then everyone left, i ended up taking a walk into his room, then it started to soak up that i wasnt ever going to see him in this room anymore, ever walking out doing all the things he did, no more phone calls in the mornings before work to make sure im up.. I had to leave the room after all that.

Soon enough we're going to have to go searching for all documentation, addresses and contacts of old friends etc to tell them all, as well as sort out some other stuff like insurance.

One of my main concerns at the moment is insurance, see, at the moment im on my dads insurance, as is my mum, with this now happening i have been told that the insurance on our car/s are null/void so it would be maybe illegal to actually drive them until insurance is taken out under a new source.

If i take insurance out on my own, under my BMW, i think im gonna get skinned alive on paying for it, since there have been no no-claims built up, my only option maybe to sell it on and get a new car which is cheaper on the wallet for about 3 years.

The other is my advanced driving, originally, this was something i didnt want to do - It was my dad who wanted me to do it and go for it, i just went along with it and didnt have too much interest, apart from maybe the last few weeks. While im going to be probably putting this on hold for a bit, im unsure if i should continue it wholly.

If i cancel it, that would be neglecting something my dad wanted me to do, and would be me quitting something he wanted me to succeed at, if i continue it and eventually pass/fail it would have been me trying my hardest to do what i could for him and me alone.

Was given a week off work as a start, whether this will take longer or not i dont know, hm

Its really not the time to be worrying about that. Give them a call, Im sure theyll be sympathetic. It should be very easy to have that removed from the list of things you need to be worrying about for a few weeks.

Theres far too many things you need to be dealing with just now to worry over car insurance.
