Nobody talking about the Budget?

i.e. Burnham did nothing.

I think Starmer's first and second budgets involved between 26 and 40 billion of money moving / taxes being raised /whatever. Burnham? About 2-4 billion.

Money is where government makes a difference. And Burnham has done nothing. He's a face being brought in to replace Starmer, but he's not actually doing anything. Never mind anything radical.

I think most people saw this budget coming, besides all the adventurous talk.

That's not true, he's raised taxes and tested the water for US style vote buying bullshit by shoving £100 into headlines to observe the complete lack of outrage

Are you really saying that straight up claiming to give people £5,000 if they vote for them in an election, versus taking £100 off a year in bills, when there's no election due is the same thing?

No but it's the same performative bullshit, ask yourself why is it £100 into bank accounts over £100 credit onto your bill?

Because it wouldn't look like anyone got diddly squat if it was next to the near enough £100 increases on the council tax bills. It's to make everyone feel like Andy's their mate cos he'd give em £100 if they're a bit short.

I don't think they really care what people think about budgets - they only really care what the IFS, OBR and markets think of their budget.

Means we don't get real change from mainstream parties.

The one thing I do like (selfishly) is the '4 day a week' thing for teachers, which is an excellent idea, if done properly.

Everyone seems to think it means that teachers will work lots less.

But I'll explain...

Currently, teachers get 10% off their timetable for prep time.

Problem is that lots of schools already do more than this, but they'll add caveats like 'oh, if we need cover, we'll use you' and 'we'll do meetings then' and other things that aren't 'personal prep' and they're not allowed to do, then there's the ballache of stuff like there's not enough classrooms, so you can't do prep in your classroom as it's being used, and lots of schools have deleted staff rooms meaning you spend a solid 20 mins of your 1 hour 'free' finding somewhere to work, and you end up distracted for the rest of that time.

So the Government appears to want to do 20% (which again, lots of schools already do) but it'd only work properly if they actually gave you a 'full day' off for prep, rather than allocating random lessons throughout the school week and then you do 4 days of 5/6 lessons a week.

There's already lots of teachers (mainly Mums who also do the traditional 'Mum' role at home too) who are part time doing 4 days a week and spend the 5th day doing their prep, unpaid.

Obviously this won't stop teachers having to spend lots of their evenings/weekends working - but in reality, I don't think many teachers believe that this will change and don't expect it to.

Did you watch that clip I posted here like a month ago?
Lets assume not so I've no idea what you're talking about.

You could tell me what your questions is? And you can tell me how grannies holding signs are committing terrorism offences?

Terrorists.

Every. Last. One.

Lock 'em up. Even if it means we have to let violent offenders out of prison to put them away.

Meanwhile, in the real world, they've probably all (or mostly all) already been released.
They still will be waiting on prosecution.

Arrested, back of a van, police station, fingerprints, processing, questioning, being charged with a crime.

Now they have to wait on the courts, go to court, be put on trial, risk incarceration and permanent criminal record.

It's fucking nothing isn't it.

Having opinions and peacefully expressing them is dangerous to your liberty in the United Kingdom.

And there's a reason it's older people - because if you're young and feel the same you can fuck your entire life.

Make light of it though m8.
