I had to pick one of my nieces up from school a year or so ago, it was like a prison. I was pretty impressed. I went to the same school, and anyone could walk on or off site, back then.
To be fair the only things they are missing at their school are shovels, brooms, pick axes and ankle bracelets keeping them all safely together etc

Is it impressive or a sad state of affairs that it’s needed

My school in the UK was built like a prison, spikes on the wall angled inwards to keep people in

Glad my kids go to school in a much less fearful environment

And kids grow up thinking this is normal.

Which, in this day and age, it is. But it sets the ground for a more prison-like experience in the wider world. No wonder they don't give a stuff about freedoms or worry about a police state. They've never had them and already grew up in one.

Talk about animals growing up in captivity...

Is this the new normal?

Ethnic minority stabs someone = riot time?

I wonder if that applies to inter ethnicity stabbings or not.

Rupert Lowe is stirring shit up perfectly - 'Go out and protest but don't be silly' is not the advice any political leader should be giving it should be 'Can we please wait for the facts?'

Well it is NI. They really don't need much of an excuse to go and set fire to shit. Especially in the summer time.

TBH - like the French, the Irish know how to kick off.

The French do very well compared to us getting their government to not introduce shit. They're getting worn down, like everyone is, but I put it down to them being a bit more happy to get fighty.

Yes, this is the new normal.

Demented lefties getting more annoyed at the response to bad things than they are to the bad things themselves.

"We could maybe get some control of immigration and stop letting stabby people in as we have enough nutters of our own?"

"Nope, censor social media and stop people realising there is a problem".

That'll work!

Anyone who voted for this current bunch of turds running the country should be automatically disqualified from any future conversation about politics. They've made 14 years of the Tories look like fucking paradise.

Funnily enough, Restore have been complaining that it was Jenrick and Braverman that 'let' that guy in, so riddle me that.

Restore aren't in power, and are never likely to be, so their thoughts are immaterial.

Nice dodge :)

Not really, as they aren't in a position to do anything about the current situation.

The current lot who are seem to be swerving the idea of getting control of immigration and putting some checks and balances in - they're more interested in limiting the ability of those already here to raise the issue.

The guy was given asylum seeker status in 2023 by the Tories.

Can you explain to me how Labour are responsible for that please?

What are they doing to stop more stabby people arriving?

It's a silly question.

Asylum seekers have a legitimate reason to be here if the relevant authorities have approved of them being an Asylum seeker, if we want to scrap human rights we could, but that's a different point.

Asylum seekers are obviously going to be more stabby than non-Asylum seekers because if they're legitimate because they're escaping fucked up situations so are more likely to be fucked up.

I think it's also important to point out that I made that post before the riots in NI started, it was just predictable for no other reason than the guy wasn't white.

So should people that voted leave :p

As for stabby asylum seekers, one of the issues is we just don't know who we're letting in, they conveniently "lose" their documents and make up any story they want about their circumstances and where they're from, we don't know if they're serial killers, rapists, kiddie fiddlers or anything in between.... some are caught because they're in criminal databases around the world but others slip through the nets.

Asylum seeker claims should be made harder, not easier and they should be processed off shore, not here where they can abscond and/or find some other loophole that allows them to stay longer than necessary.

Everyone is rearranging deck chairs. True asylum seekers should be given it, chancers and wronguns should be on the first boat to who gives a fuck where.

The trouble is, the can has been kicked down the road for so long, nobody knows how to deal with it.

The whole thing isn't really about asylum seekers (who should be given safe harbour).

It's about the 17 million people who migrated into the UK since 1997. About 6 million net. And the fact that it's had a disproportionate economic impact on the poorest half of society. And done without asking.

I personally don't really give a fuck. But I'm not prepared to call half the population racist because they don't like the policy and I'm not prepared to turn a blind eye to the economic and social issues that it's created.

Yes, in the venn diagram all racists hate the policy. Obviously. But the big circle is the people who don't like it - and aren't racist.

Yes, there's been an economic crash, yes there's been mismanagement. But huge legal immigration comes with downsides. It's been said before, and I (a lifelong anti-racist) got called racist by DaGaffer, in his dumbest post ever, for simply pointing this sort of shit out.

As long as you guys (well, Labour) aren't prepared to look at the problems and come up with meaningful solutions, then you're gonna get Reform. And it's going to be a shitshow. But it's your own fault for shouting "racist" every time immigration is mentioned (plus whatever else we're not prepared to look at, and instead would rather censor and pigeonhole instead...)

But absolutely is about asylum seekers, as this guy was an asylum seeker?
