AN elderly woman who beat the C.diff superbug after agreeing to be fed someone else’s faeces declared yesterday: “I recommend the treatment.”

Ethel McEwen, 83, made a full recovery thanks to the natural “good bacteria” she ingested.

Her daughter Winnifred’s faeces were liquidised — then fed down a tube through the pensioner’s nose into her gut.

Ethel, of Guardbridge, Fife, underwent the drastic therapy in Glasgow after antibiotics failed to cure her.

She said: “People turn up their noses and think, ‘Oh my God’.

“But really it’s nothing. It isn’t horrible at all and there are certainly worse things.”

Ethel was a patient of Dr Alasdair McConnachie — Britain’s only faecal transplant therapist.
