We did To Kill aMocking Bird and An Inspector Calls.
I read 1984 last year some time. I thought it was quite dull really. I didn't care all that much for the people in it cos they seemed rather dim.
I made myself read and finish it just simply to put into context all the references you see and hear about in daily life that are taken from the book.

Try Homage to Catalonia, it's George Orwell's account of his fighting for the anarchists in the Spanish Civil War, and is a very interesting read .
