And re what i drive, yes, I have a 99 plate MGF (mk2), and I'm fucking happy with it. It's got enough speed for me (0-60 in 8 and 125mph top speed), better handling that you'll EVER get in your shitty modded second hand cheapo pike cars, a gorgeous leather interior, it's convertible and has a nice british racing green pearlescent paint job

It's a better car than you'll ever have frankie in every way. Funny, it cost almost 20 grand, <thinks>, oh yeah! As I said, the more you spend the better the car you get!!!

my mods would be fixing any rust on car, therefore making it perfect. Making everything that is not body colour, body coloured. Adding a genuine German BMW rear boot spoiler for the purpose of having the LED brake in it. And maybe simple sideskirts, genuine BMW M series ones. Seeing as i will be getting a top of the range BMW 320i it wont be shit. itll have all the goodies, PAS, CL, SR, Leather int, maybe air-con. other than that, i will get some nice after market alloys and decent tires. I wont need to do anything to suspension as its already BMW spec, hence good. engine wise, apart from a rebuild, and polish, i wont need to do jack caus of the power thats already there. Chipping and adding a high rev cam isnt major work and does wonders. But i doubt you know anything i just said caus you seem very one sided aganst anything 'Non-You'

There's very little point trying to "mod" BMWs unless you are prepared to fork out stacks of money for a decent one in the first place. If, as I assume, you are looking to pay about £2k - £3k on a BMW, then you'd probably be better off just making sure its roadworthy, tidying up rust spots, etc.

BMWs, Mercs etc are unique in so much as being top marque/prestige cars - the only modifications that actually look good on them are those carried out by professional companies - eg. Alpina (for BMW), AMG and Brabus for Mercedes. Fitting a bodykit etc to a BMW yourself would devalue it so much it would be scary

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here...but do you have ANY idea how much the insurance (even 3rd party only) will cost an under-21 on a bog-standard BMW 320, let alone an uprated one?

I received some quotes about 2 years ago (when I was 27) for a car (BMW 320) and it was 600-800 depending on insurance companies, what extra security features I had fitted, excess amounts, etc...

The majority of highstreet insurance companies won't touch modded (engine mod) cars.

If they do, rest assured you will pay through the nose for it.

My first car was a 1.1 Fiesta and way back in 1989 that cost me over £1,000 to insure

i had a call late on the following saturady from the police... i was absolutley pissed at the time which made things much more difficult. the car had basically been involved in a smash near my home (bout 800 yards away!) and the fuzz thought i had smashed it... i tried to explain i gave it to "Dave" last week and my reg docs were in the post.....

long story short they tried to stiff me for the removal costs and storage of one fucked old nova which i had given away.... after many calls to the fuzz i managed to get them straight.

the moral of the story.... never underestimate the power of the nova!

the spanish translation of nova is "no go"..... very apt don't you think!
