Hi folks

I have created the following template for my friar, Anyone have suggestions on how to improve it.

There are no outrageously priced items in the template and it has all of the best artis apart from CB\GoLM for anti-stun\mezz.

The template contains 2 very nice HOT artis + other assorted goodies like 25% and 10% fumble chances, pet spam, bolt and disarm. Last of all it has 5% rp increase. The staff im using is 3 spd and i have 10% increase to melee speed.

cold needs to be 25 or 26, heat and matter need to be 20+, imo. matter just so u dont spend most mid fights rooted, heat so u dont get hib caster skill?stunned for ~long duration.

other than that CB is kinda essential i think for non-det non-charge non-stoicism classes and bodyguards. most enemy grps dont even try casting mezz these days (if insta is up) so having insta 'bounce' is real nice.

oh and think hard about egg of youth :)

Thx for the comments, however im slightly confused with some of the responses.

Firstly im going 49 enhance so ill have red buffs (24% cold, heat and matter). With my base resists being (Cold 20%, Heat 16% and Matter 15%) it means they will be 39.2%, 36.16% and 35.4% when buffed. If i maxed the base resists the overall resist value when buffed would only be 43.76%, so im not losing a considerable amount.

I agree that no CB is a weakness and that im a prime candidate for the stun/nuke/nuke/nuke hibbies out there, but i feel BoS and BoZ offer me more options (BoZ especially so). Purge 2/3 will be the priorty RA once i have sufficient points.

Last of all, this guy isnt going to be a groupable friar, im primarily going to be soloing with him, so having things like EoY, while nice, arent really as critical for the character style.

Edit: I notice that friar's also get access to determination! See camelot herald for more details.

im still into the idea that friars shouldnt swing there little staff but be bgbot and help backup healing and buffing and if using there melee use the ml styles power leak, buffshear style and so on...

lol? thats like a half-ogre merc saying "well i have lots of str as base, so i wont bother capping it in template as i have as much as a briton merc has"

youre giving the enemy casters a free 10%+ damage to work with. think of all the effort people go to get +10% TOA bonus in their template, and then people like you just give it away free because youre too lazy to make a proper template

edit: that came over a little more aggressive than i meant it, i just meant with thte items available today, theres no reason why your template cant cap nearly everything

I think alot of people are looking at this template and going OMG thats crap. Well ladies unless you have 300+ plat or no social life you ain't going to get the perfect template. Even then its debatable that you will ever make one. I have made numerous excellent templates for my scout and heretic and i dont have the playtime or plat to make another one.

Yes the template has flaws, but they are minor (possible exception is HP) and its not the most expensive to make.

I omitted left and right hand items (which will be CL mace and CES) so the overall utility of this template is considerable and IMHO totally outweighs the so called flaws mentioned.

Utility in template
1) 3 x HOT (60%, 35% and 50% with snare)
2) 2 x Caster Interrupts - Bolt and Pet spam
3) Melee - 25% fumble, 10% to Hit, 5% to hit, Disarm and Shapechange
4) Stealth Lore

The staff I have chosen is 3 second delay (as i previously mentioned) and for me swinging closer to cap is preferable to slower and harder. That is why I haven't chosen items with + melee\style damage

As for EoY, yes its a nice artifact but as this guy will be a solo melee character and NOT A GROUP BASED FRIAR its a total waste of a slot imho.

I think you've made a decent template Gethin, but why did U go 49 enhance? ... 50 Staff rawks!

Holy Staff with 50 heal, followup is 100 heal also a 75 value Energy(!!!) DD.

if you can get the leggings and hat, this works ok

Support Artifacts like EoY, Zo, Nailah Robe and Healers Embrace(For heal%)

Naliah, Scalers and Tarts for melee damage and speed.

CB for the Stun/mez turn.

Swap out Tarts with the CL mace when casting single target heals and you have 24% healing 4% cast speed 8% range.


Wish I was able to find away cap out the con and lower the pie overcapping but with just 2 SC slots to work with it was kinda hard plain

Im still umming and ahhing about that one. I chose 49 enhance primarily for the resists and also endurance use was a serious concern for me. That wont be a real problem if the /use2 of EP is up.

I want to be spinning that staff as fast as possible and im hopeful that this template will allow me do that.

A nice alternative spec would be for me to go 50 staff 42 enhance 7 rejuv and 6 parry, although parry isnt as necessary useful as it used to be. 42 enhance gives me red style reduction so this spec is definately interesting. Also lets be honest an extra 8% resists isnt going to save me that often, caster interrupt gadgets will though.

You get the last End reduction buff at 42 enhance.

You get higher weaponskill and higher heals on that followup style. The thing you will loose is the 100heal offensive+defensive buffs, reducing them to 75heals... and ofc the extra 8% resists.

I think you should consider your spec - again :)

Ok had another go at the template, i believe its better than the first attempt.

Major changes are as follows:

ML10 Vest and Legs replaced by Nailahs and ML9 legs
Mad Scalars and Croc ring added while RoUW is removed (lose 1 Hot but still have 2 with addition of Friar co5 Mace)

Affects:
Dex cap is increased by 3 points and resists on the whole are better. 7% Melee damage now added to template while retaining 10% melee speed.
