Quite a result really. Keepers were both great but as teams go i honestly believe that denmark played far better than the 'big scary italians in the group that everyone hopes to come second in'.

Lol. Was a pathetic attempt by the Italians. They keep playing like that and they won't make it out of the group. The Danes weren't great either but for a hyped up team like Italy they played complete shit. Sorensen was good when he needed to be though.

I'm glad we read on another thread how great the Italy team is, because we sure wouldn't have guessed it from today's match!

Good luck to Denmark for the rest of the competition.

I'll be supporting Denmark, I thought they played really well against Italy. Some of the passing was utterly stunning and the moves...well, it really should have been 3-0.

Go Denmark! Woo!

That was a very entertaining game, best so far I'd say, and Denmark were superb. Italy weren't too bad, defended very well for were just outplayed by Denmark.

Why are people surprised when Italy don't play well in the first game of a major tournament? They haven't done as far as anyone can remember, no reason why they should start now.

It did highlight some selection problems with the Italian team tho. Why Trap played Perotta and Zanetti ahead of Pirlo and Gattuso is beyond me. They were only the cornerstones of Milan's Serie A winning midfield after all. Because Italy couldn't win the ball in midfield, it meant their forwards looked deeply average, when anyone who's seen Totti, Del Piero and Vieri play at their best will know just isn't true. Don't know what the fuck that donkey Panucci was doing at right back either in all honesty.

Your prediction for Del Perio playing well in this tournament is hilarious after yesterday. I've not seen a forward (of good reputation) play with such lack of determination and skill in a vital match like that.

He was great when he was 23, these days he's moving down a very slippery slope downhill, he just doesn't ever perform like he should do and is capable of doing.

He played well considering his lack of support from the midfielders, whenever he had the ball he had to take on about 4 defenders because of the lack of options. I thought he far outplayed the supposed greatest player in the world (if you believe the Italian press anyway) Totti, making the most of some very poor service. Considering his injury plagued season and the fact he's probably not 100% fit at the moment I reckon the boy done good. We have, after all, just finished the first round of the group matches.
