The size of the Chernobyl exclusion zone is 1000 square miles. The population density of China is 375 per square mile. That's 375,000 evacuated. Better than 250,000 dead imo.I think it also puts the population of Eastern China into perspective; imagine if the Chinese went for Nuclear instead of dams, and if they had a Chernobyl in that area, they'd have to evacuate millions.
By the way, did a bit of a google about that disaster, there's 62 dams in that region. 62!
