What's that then ? It's the amount people pay per month to play on Blue Yonder.
Rather more than £12.00 a year methinks.
However, thier servers are usually full, whereas ours these days are universally empty. Why is that? Well it seems they reserve 2 or 4 slots (not sure tbh) for paying customers and leave the rest open.
Can we at BW do something like that ? Cos it's getting bad oot there m8s :(

Barrysworld could still do that, would be good if they did. but if i remember rightly, the reserved slots are for Admins...

could be wrong tho

Well they need to reserve say 8 admin slots per server. That way we "might" get a game :)

Im well serious to be honest. Even I havent played on BW in over a week, and that is a long time for me :(
People are creatures of habit, and at this rate I'll get used to playing on BY and then where would that lead ?

I've played on the subs servers once in the last 2 weeks I think. Then there were only 4/5 others, and only for 1 map.

I'm playing on the CS Central server all the time now, which is at least it's hosted by BW.

You know, its nearing November, and BarrysWorld still shows no sign of any promotion within Game stores for the Christmas bustle. I can't imagine the stupidity required to ignore such an opportunity, really.

i think its a crap idea TBH.

I think the point of P2P is that you have to pay to use the service, i know i woudnt be happy if they made the servers public again, giving none-subscribers access.

And when i look in my server browser all the players seem to be over in either the BY or JOLT camp, why not go to the BW servers then they wont be empty.

Some people just want a quick game and this idea does not always guarentee BW peeps will join.

Ffs boob, easy to say , but no-one does any more do they? Lets face it, no-one ever did either. It was you and me and a couple of others, and then people came on.
I simply cannot be arsed to wait on a server for an hour playing 2 v 2 with 3 admins every night. Something needs to be done. Would you really be whinging because you paid your £12 for a years worth of empty servers, but now they are full with only half the people paying ? Who gives a fuck ? I dont, I just want people on the servers thats all.

i would be whinging if i couldnt get on a server which i subscribed to, due to the fact that it was full of none paying users.

The only way it would work fairly would be to give all the subscribers rcon access so they could kick none subscribers out to make room for them when they fancyed a game.

Its all well and good BY and JOLT having servers full of people but its annoying having to wait from 15 - 30 mins just to join the things.

It might be nice if somebody 'up there' could come down and explain exactly what the situation is with bw. And I don't mean zappeh (with great respect), I mean somebody who we can talk to who has the power to implement decisions based on our feedback. Keeping customers informed is good policy.

ill sort this out....u dont have to pay to play on by servers, they have two different subscription levels gamer and elite gamer or summit like that.

U just get a bit of extra stuff with that subscription like for example a star under ure name in the forums and a 4 line signiture (fucking wow wee ! ) and u can also book severs with the credits u are given.

This is crap really for the money in which u pay. But that is just my point of view.

The slots on the servers which are reserved are for the admins only (usually 2 per server)

and thats it :p

The only reason so many ppl play on BY is because its free.

The two spare slots on each server on BY are admin slots.

There is the same old argument on BY as everywhere else. It seems a lot of ppl will refuse to play on BY when that goes p2p because of the state of the servers.

I played on a BY Server a few nights ago where at least 8 ppl had BW subscriptions. ..that was just on one server. Please please play on BW..I don't mind the £12, I used to pay £10 per month to play on Wireplay on the old days but I haven't seen anyone at all playing on BW when i've checked for at least 2 weeks :( I have tried going into the irc room but although there's ppl there no one says anything and tbh i've given up..im lazy..sue me.

I came to BW a few months ago because BY was so unplayable with bullet loss and lag and although its improved I found BW to be a pretty nice friendly place to play. eek...perhaps it wasn't subscription that got rid of everyone..it could have been me!

I bet ya anything BY will have empty servers the same as BW come p2p time.

Anyways i've waffled on for so long i've forgotten what the original thread was about so i'll be off now..byee

My 2p's worth.

At them moment I'm paying BW subscription money to use a service that nobody else uses - to sit on empty servers waiting for peeps to join (CS & BF1942).

However for free I can join in on any number of servers - including UK2 (which I thought I would never bring myself to do).

Is it just me or does this sound completely fucked up? Are BW punishing us for being loyal? It certainly seems that way.

I welcome Throddy's suggestion - anything to get BW going again!

im with you throddy,we are being told to be patient but fuckall is happening,im getting sick and tired of no-one on the servers,ive even connected and waited and waited,it's just not on.there has to be a better way than using irc etc.

It would be nice if they would sort something out like this, I wasnt aware BY did that kind of thing, but hmm if BY servers were as good as BW servers once was I would gladly pay that.

Atm BW are charging money for nothing and it wont work.

I don't see how BW are losing any more money than before. If the servers are full of non paying people (as before) or empty with, say, 200 subbed players around, then they are at least £2400 better off. Less admins, ,less time spent fixing stuff, and no need to upgrade equipment.

That's why there'll be no change - what's the point?

Perhaps the subs were an ingenious way to get the names of the 200 most serious gamers around, so they can sell that list to every game company in the uk. Got to be worth at least £5 (Although boobs address must be worth a fortune to every cockamamie clear case and supercooled turbo fan manufacturer)

Expect phone calls from salespeople imminently........

Well, just a few notes I guess.
I stand corrected on the free slots on BY thing, obviously they dont do it, indeed they appear to be charging people £6.50 a month for absolutely nothing !
However it dont make any difference, something has to be done to get people playing on the servers, and this is still as good an idea as any Ive heard. You cant help but think theres some clever people "higher up" with plans for what they're going to do with BW, but tbh Im beginning to doubt that ! As for BW going broke, well as Lester says they must be considerably better off than they were before, regardless of empty servers, only a lunatic would think otherwise. However , I'm more concerned about them dying of disinterest really.
Rcon btw Leg is a b00b classic :) For some reason he's one of them people obsessed with it, rather like some people are obsessed with ops in irc.

There is no problem at Barrysworld and no need to worry about the servers being unpopulated.
Barrysworld do not need to think of ideas to get people on servers, they have had plans that have been in place for a very long time.
Things take time, and they are not taking anymore time than was expected.

Patience is all that is needed.

Well spoken Zappeh.

Unfortunately, in the meantime, many people have already paid up on the subscription. (I am NOT one of those - for a number of reasons, therefore I can speak with an unbiased opinion).

It may be an idea to "recompense" those people who purchased their BW subscription when the P2P service takes off and many people take up the offer.

6 months (suggestion) of free play might repay the loyalty that they have shown to BW during the startup phase.

Dont flame me on this one; this is only a suggestion that I made before and was totally ignored.
