The whole zerg "thing" is because RA abilities. Everyone want to farm rp to get RA's that ruins the game imo. I remebered 1.36 patch without any FA IP Purge etc etc...

Just make decent bug fixes like quest bug, dungeon bugs etc...

Imo Mythic got many complaints about serveral classes was nerfed <--> owerpowered so instead of really try t balance the game they made RA abilities to make so many variations to help even out the nerf<-->owerpowered problem _BUT_ they also made up alot of shitty RA's too like FA IP Purge MoM MoC etc...

I'am fin with RA's as long as it stays in the frame of +str +con +dex, +end etc things.

This is a kinda a microsoft syndrome when they having problem s and bugs they make another program on top of the old to try to fix it, which they ar wrong because the new program will cause even more harm.

And what happend to the teamplay non zerg thing? What about to try to have some fun?
Is it just me or is there more 14:ish players thinking "me want itamz!!!!!11" "I want rp!!!!1" "NEED 1000 rp to get IP on my Infil!!!1!!" sigh....... :sleeping:

I think in the old days even DAoC had some smaller bugs it was alot more balanced and fun that it is now. This kinda games need so much testing to get it balanced right OR get more oure classes like AD&D 2 rules (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons). More pure classes lesser balancing. I mean if you are a healer then you should heal, ress and dispell nothing else. A tank is a tank, it should take like 5-6 nukes to kill. Tank should not have debuffs etc...I could go on and on here...

I know everyone have diffrent opinions about this but why change something thats working fine?

Anyway I'am gonna play SI for a while...You never know what might happen.

There was a zerg before RA surely?

The zerg is bigger now because there are just more bored level 50s around.

I feel certain RA's we're a bad idea. most of the passive ones i'm ok with and FA/MCL are great improvements to the game.

But the really, really powerful ones (that rightly cost lots of RSP's) are kinda stupid. i also think thier unbalanced. using myself as an example


there are plenty of skills that a healer can get to imporve his healing capacity

Wild Healing
Mastery Of Healing
Perfect Recovery

to name three, however what RA's are there to improve a healers pacification skills? not all healers are high pac spec Mythic, don't i deserve an RA? am i inferiour to Pac spec healers in some way?

And don't get me started on +pac items which do fuck all, and now i find out +pac is being taken out of the game totally!!!

Mythic had a good idea with RA's they give you a reason to go for realm ranks other than to boast about it (which most people wouldn't do anyway) but they made them so over-powering.

there are probably more but that i don't know about. and the problem is now we have them they will never go.

Mythic could have solved the Archer stealth problem simply by removing 'See Hidden' but because they had already given it to stealthers there would have been huge complaints from people that play an Inf/SB/NS. So they put in Camo, then they'l decide that Camo is too powerful so they'l add a 'See Camo' skill at a higher stealth level, then another skill and another untill you have an entire quick bar devoted to your stealthing skills!

I'm kinda glad their taking away IP from stealth classes, it might not be much but atleast its a step in the right direction.

Anyway, thats what i think about it anyway. no doubt some educated person will come along and call me a wanker or somthing because i don't think the same was he does, but thats life i guess :/

The zerg is here now because of the RA's, I mean make keep take/defence more exiting rather than just for DF access. Also you are so totally right about the fixes Mythic is doing. They give something to a class then everyone whines about it that it is owerpowred showing SS's etc (this is because mythic never really tested this ability). So instead of taking it away they give other classes RA to even out.

Also ok with most passive RA's but since everyone have buffbots (Not me and never will) most passive RA's don't have much effect like it was intended to be.

Yeah Pac healers have not yet got a singel thing to it's specc line. I have 48 in Pacification..I don't complain... I think pacification is a very nice specc line as it is and I don't need any RA etc for it. Neither does anyone else need any RA. RA's totally screwed this game, it's so that beginning to be Diablo 2 syndrome.

Most of all this is not a singel player stealth rp farming RA game SIGH......

I too remember the old version, before RA's, before the Battlegrounds, before the dragons.

And to be frank the entire RA system should never of progressed to anything more then a novel idea. They should of left it with the +Skill reward for realm points and thats it.

RA's don't balance the game, they simply give Mythic an excuse to say 'Well you can buy 'such a such' RA to balance this or that shortcoming of your class' without actually fixing anything.

Would of been better if they just halved the duration of all mezz, root etc effects to mimic a general dirtimination effect and maybe given certain classes an equivilent to the Purge ability at something like level 30. Or maybe given all the classes one new ability at certain levels, but no where near the power of the current RA's.

Personally I think the battlegrounds needed more thought to in how they were implement, most 'new' players can't believe it when you tell them we didn't have BG's in the old days and you'd be running around emain since level 15.

RAs are the experience above level 50 :)

I quite like em ... they're seriously whacked.. and need a complete overhaul... but the idea is sound imho.

It became pretty clear, pretty fast after release, that once you hit level 50, all you could do was RvR where you got nothing from your troubles other than +toSkill after a certain amount of RP, and a new title.

That just didn'tcut it, didn't keep people playing.

First they tried to fix it the bountypoints and tokens, and for the most part rather silly tokens and that. They failed to keep people interested so had to think of something new.

Up came realm abilities, a rather nice addition imo. If you do spend your time defending your realm, you're rewarded by being allowed to give your char new abilities. The main problem is the way they were added and what they do.

Personally I would wish that there were more way to go about this. Such as gaining some sort of tracking ability (Yeah I know, stolen from the Hunter concept), danger sences and perhaps even the ability to learn the languages of your enemy realm. It would not be totally unrealistic to have a select few who could understan what the other side was /y'ing during keep takes/defences and such.

Generally there are a select few all-powerfull RAs which pretty much one and all go for, the rest are just there for spice. Given they can indeed enhance your char when enough points are invested, it is still a very time consuming job to gain enough RP to get the to a decent stage.

DAoC would improve greatly if some of the old standards had been kept, and the mezz/root/stuns were taken away from the game or at least kept to single target. But that would be kinda like asking for the removal of the AWP from CS, heh :)

Removing the mezz / stun / root thing would just unbalance certian chars, with the exception of skald / mincer / bard mezz, who already have the ability of speed to make them superior to other classes. You only have to look at the population of skalds to see this.

IMO RA's should make your main character more appealing, and should give you the ability to addopt another chars abilities for a short time. For example, Thanes with speed, Sorcs with stealth, Hunters with DoT. Having rolled 4 chars, not all to 50, I have the best of all worlds. But Id like to see their abilities on each other.

Rather than striving for RR10, the ream points you spend on your RA should be removed from your total, each time you spend them, rathr like BPs are on totems (waste of space they are). Then more exiting RAs could be brought in, erging you to save them up to get them.

Imaging a new player dinging 50 for the first time in 1 years time. Off he toddles to RvR, what chance does he stand against 1fg level 51 (RR5 equal) with IP, MCL, Augemented Ego and a host of other RAs?

Any new chars will find it increasingly difficult to be able to "solo" any veteran. Hows this balancing the game with RAs?

Some things in the game IMO are too planned, theres a severe lack of randomness to it all. Maybe this also could be taken into account with RAs, say that Purge only has a 50% chance of working, True sight only gives a 50% or random chance of reveiling a target, etc etc.

Just my 2p worth :)

Rag, that's such a cool idea, that would add a neat extra dimension to the game, you could organise propoganda by shouting out false directions and commands if you knew the enemy was listening.

Nah I say DAoC is balanced for PvE but certainly not RvR. RA's is a good idea but not the way they have brought it. Instead of unbalance the game by putting in RA's...I say give us lvl 60, new zones with mobs so w could spec more in our lines... now thats what I call balance and fair play. But sure it will take a loooooooooong time to get to 60.... And I say this again and again and again more pure classes.... look at mentalist...power buff...healing...nuking...etc etc... AND give mid/alb/hib equal amount of classes... Damn give me 2 weeks and I'll balance and make this game fun to play again :p
