Hello all,

Finally fitted my Zalman today, been sitting in a box for weeks. Seems to have gone on OK, redid the thermal paste - removed the old with nail polish remover and fitted the fan - very nice it is too.

However, I'm curious about which way around the fan is supposed to go. I've fitted it as it was packaged, which is blowing downward onto the heatsink. Is this right? Or does it want to be the other way up blowing away?

Seems quieter though - which it bloody well should after the previous Thermaltake Volcano beast. :)

I'm no expert but surely you want cool air blowing down onto the processor? Will be far more efficient at heat removal than the other way.

I had a PC at work (a P-3) that ran without a fan on at all for about 9 months. Seems that when the IT support droid installed the motherboard he neglected to actually plug the fan into the motherboard so it never ran at all.

PC was fine. Was replaced for being obsolete before any noticable damage was done.
