Youtube being pish for you?

Just wondering who else is having problems with Youtube? They've been gradually grinding to the point where some videos just don't play at all, sometimes the website is perfectly responsive but videos take a day and an age to load.

Hopefully people won't start demanding a fix, saying things like "this is just utter bull, i won't take this kind of poor service" etc.

Well I was fully anticipating someone to say "stop complaing, it's free", but that's not the point of this thread, I'm just wondering if it's exclusive to Youtube or maybe a few ISPs.

Understandable mis-interpretation though.

Yeah noticed this ever since fettoken stuck a video of my body on there:

I can see why now. So many are trying to watch it at the same time.

Some vids are loading very slowly, some not so much. Pages seem to load quickly regardless though. I'm on Be Broadband.

Almost never use youtube, there's no point to it and the quality is hideous.

Surely that depends on the video. The "HQ" ones are pretty decent, and there are "HD" ones that I think are genuinely 720p.

Yeah it varies greatly but the times I've used it I've only encountered terrible quality stuff. But that's probably because I've only really used it to look at random football clips from 10+ years ago :]

Could be your ISP squeezing / throttling your connection. I know Tiscali did this during evenings to the point where there wasn't much point in using the net.

Alternatively, do you use AVG? If you have link scanner enabled, it will scan all the pages that are linked from the page you're currently on, which if it's a video, could slow you down too.
