Hoola hoops, Ra-ra skirts, peddle pushers, big perms, legwarmers and leggings, the new Romantics, Duran Duran being the best thing since sliced bread, Rollerblades, skateboards (although that was possibly a hang over from the late 70s), my Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k and my Pacman game.

Tales of the Golden Monkey with the gorgeous Steven Collins, watching the whole of Live Aid on TV, Grange Hill, Tiswas and Saturday Swapshop with Noel Edmunds, Fame - the film and the TV show.

School discos, having a subvertive DJ at the school disco who had everyone singing Frigging in the Rigging, seeing the Damned, The Alarm, Sisters of Mercy and New Model Army within the space of a few months in 1985.

Rentaghost, Rubarb and Custard, The Flumps, The Herbs, Triangle, Howard's Way, Dallas and Dynasty, Max Headroom, The Tube, Channel 4, Moonlighting with Bruce Willis.

Cola cubes, black jacks, Texan bars (what the hell ever happened to them?!), Refreshers, Pacers (which were mint versions of Opal Fruits, white and green stripes), Space Dust.

Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Beuller's Day Off, St Elmo's Fire, Back To The Future, The Karate Kid, The Outsiders, Rumblefish, Wierd Science, Michael Jackson being cool not freaky.

Rubix Cubes and those long black and white snake type things that you could make shapes with as well, Twister, playing games at school whose whole object was to end up snogging as many lads/lasses (depending on your sex) as possible.

I got one for Christmas, I always remember that year for the snow that had fallen. I crashed my bike into a wall :-(

The Choose Your Own Adventure books from Bantam.

I recently discovered a load of them boxed up in the loft after clearing it out due to moving house. I must have about 60 in total including the very first in the series titled The Cave Of Time.
