Like Throd, I was a bit older when the eighties started (14), although I seem to have had a much better time of it than he did! As befits my teenage status, my main memories of the eighties were; sex - why are my friends all doing it and I'm not? (answer: they were all liars). Sex - am I doing it right? (answer: probably not at first) Sex - How can I get more sex? (answer: get a girlfriend. You are a 1000% more attractive to other girls when you already have a girlfriend) Sex - I need to buy a car because it will get me more sex (amazingly - true). Sex - what are the best clubs to pull in? (answer: Romeo & Juliets for slappers, Spiders for Indie chicks).

Other than that, "coal not dole" badges and fingerless gloves are all the spring to mind, but I was drunk for the second half of the eighties.

um. my MSX, until I discovered that there was only one other person in the entire neighborhood who had one as all the others had C64's

walkmans. back then it was cool to clip a huge clunky bright red bit of machinery to your belt and walk about.

LP singles. all the cool kids had 50gazillion of them. I had one, by Kadjagoogoo

lost cities of gold, was totally cool.

our VCR, that was a top loader and had a remote control attached to it via a cable \o/

Being a sterotypical Indian, my dad had a shop and I got the coke yoyos and other collectibles without having to collect anything. And an endless supply of sweets

Oooo and don't forget proper toys with your maccyd's happy meal. And the toys you used to get with kellogs cereals, I remember the little plastic submarines I used to play with in the bath that you filled with baking soda.

alot of the programs i watched from late 80s and early 90s seem very fucked up now. take teenage mutant ninja turtles for instance. i d/l'ed some episodes and it seemed like some of the craziest shit ive ever seen. round the twist is also very strange. though back then it didnt really stick out as being weird to me.

i wish i could find sharky and george again. that was very fucked up and some bits i still remember. the music that plays when they are swimming around for no reason has stuck in my mind for 15 years or so.

Spectrum games were the business. Remember the dustmen game? A mate in the pub refused to believe that vast sections of my life were given up to simulating emptying bins.

I used to play the Count Duckula game, and if you pressed all the buttons on the keyboard at once, it turned into Revenge of The Banana Milk, and your steered a bottle of milkshake through the game.

I have no idea why.

Remember Tea-Bagging as an attack by a witch with a caffienated drink obsession, not a weird sex act.

Have ever made your friend wear a pot on his head, and then verbally steered him/her across the garden in preparation for a much dreamt of stint on Knightmare.

Have ever worn a shellsuit.

Can remember the correct way to sing Ullysseeeeeeeseeeeeseeeeseeee!

If you have ever, or have ever been, spammed.

If you secretly did a little wee of fear having seen Ghostwatch when it was first aired.

If you've ever deliberatly shown people exactly where you are sweatiest by wearing a heat changing t-shirt.

And finally, you know you're a child of the eighties when you see a big titted braless woman running around in a stripey top, and you think of a spectrum game loading.

Don't remember that. Do remember weird brightly coloured clacky (!!) bits of plastic you attached to the spokes of your wheels, so you could sound like the tin man being thrown down stairs when you cycled places.
