The Dutch don't have a particular delicacy for after evenings out. It will be chips with some junkfood thing. Shoarma or Doner. Most Dutch do enjoy a nice raw pickled herring on occasion though; I suppose that counts

My ex is from Leek, so we used to have oatcakes now and then; pretty good actually.

Can't think of any particular local dishes when I was growing up. I grew up in Hull so, really big fish & chips? (not any more though).At home we used to have "Scouse" - which is basically Irish stew, and was, as you might guess, from the other side of the Pennines (my family is half Manc half Liverpool).

Parmos are also served with the addition of toppings. According to local legend in 1993 a Teesside man known as 'Abo' (other reports claim it was a Stockton man by the name of Glenn Conroy) asked Gi-Gi's take away to add some pepperoni to the topping before cooking, following which local takeaways added a variety of 'topped Parmos' to their menus.

Sorry to be a pedant, but Oatcakes are small hard biscuits made out of oats and are a Scottish delicacy. Those pancakes made out of oats everyone eats round here were first made about 200 years after ours. The ones round here also taste rank. Mind, so do the Scottish ones. Guess I'm just not a fan of oats.

Where I'm from in Scotland I'm guessing the local delicacies are Dundee Cake and Robinson's Marmalade. Both are lush.

Dundee Cake is the bees knees, my bother lived in Dundee for 4 years and everytime we went to visit he would take us to a different tea shop so we could have some locally made fresh Dundee Cake. Lovely stuff and I usually can't stand fruit cakes.

As for oatcakes, same again. The ones I have had in Edinburgh were miles better than those we get in Manchester, I have long suspected that ours down here are just a cheap knockoff. never tried ones like pancakes, will have to look into it.

And that would be why they're called "Staffordshire Oat Cakes". No idea whether the jock version is older or not, but it hardly matters.

Yeah and the roast chicken pastys are to die for as well. I grew up less than a mile away from the Greggs factory in Manchester and so Greggs cakes/pastrys were part of everyones diet around here. It is nice to see they have now spread down south and are doing well, southerners are finally being coverted to the joy that is pie!

and a little less-known one, the Saffron Bun.

Both are gorgeous and resulted in me turning into a tubby fecker when I worked within 50 yards of 3 good bakeries for a few years.
