Why not try it as long as you have nothing to lose .. To pay out if you lose your job and feel hard done by you will try anything to protect your house etc. until they change the law as they are trying to do now. There needs to be something to sort the chancres from the reals. If this is right or not time will tell

Perhaps it should have been a deposit based on final salary? That way it scales properly and still deters everyone who needs to be deterred.
