Well i hate the government, just when you get all riled up, think they don't give a f*ck about your problems, even when you've paid taxes and do all the hoop jumping they demand, get good and angry at the brink of doing something stupid...they go and give the months rent and a 150 for living expenses :p

You can't measure my amazement when i saw it. 550 because, i quote "it is necessary".

Came at a good spot too, been 4 months since i've had any income and had a bit of a issue with this months rent.

With the springs sun, came some good news. Good day, good day.

Any other peeps gotten surprised at things working?

Do you ever manage to hold onto a job Toht?

Nobody is able to hold onto a job forever in the games biz. Trust me on that one. :)

Quite well actually.

1 place left for another job, other place for financial reasons(15 peeps fired), last place quit. Overall i'd say 80% employment time over last 10 years in a very unstable industry.

How long was your job history again? :p

I had a £500 tax rebate last year out of the blue. Was very happy with that.

I got a £50 cashback on my Mastercard last month. Have never seen that before, and had never even seen it advertised or mentioned in my terms & conditions. Bank error in my favour? :)

When I did my placement year in Dublin, I got about £800 back at the end of the year and then started a new P/T job in the UK the day I got back, so that was nice.

Paid for a very sexy Marshall 30th Anniversary full-stack in purple tolex. Was gutted when I had to sell it because I realised I was utter shit on the guitar.

May I ask what industry if you don't mind?

Nice to see the govt. come up trumps for a change. If you're in the UK, maybe it's happened becuase the MP's aren't in charge at the moment?? ;)

Heh, Finnish actually so it's not quite as bad, but past experience left me expecting a letter of "At this point we can't do anything, but here's a fiver to get you through."

Industry is game dev, iffy at best in stability :p

I've just found out I've had the wrong tax code for 5 years or so (yes I know I should have checked earlier).

Sent all my P60's off to the tax office and waiting for them to calculate my yummy rebate atm.

Think Im going to have a nice holiday this Summer :)

Fingers crossed for you. When i figured that out I was paying too much it was in June and i had the wrong tax code since Christmas and i only got 2 months back. They said I should have notice before April so i only get the money back for this tax year :(

Thats bullshit. You are due the tax back for the full period, not just 2 months worth. Drop me a PM if you want to pursue it and I will help you

I wouldnt trust the revenue one bit. Once you get the figure and their calculations, drop me a line and I will do an excel spreadsheet for you, where all you have to do is insert your gross earnings figure for each year, and it will calculate what is owed to you, including interest, and then you can see if it agrees to what HMRC are claiming.

My best yet, is some poor sod comming in off the street with a demand for £55k tax from HMRC. He was in tears. I ended up going to court for him, and ended up him getting a refund of just over £12k. Watching the tax inspector squirm in court was mint. I had the fucker bent over a barrell and he knew it.

HMRC are shysters. Always get a second opinion.
