On topic: How did the man get away without being lynched? I cant believe the general public would stand by and let the poor old guy get mauled like that without someone jumping in to take that fucker out, most of the people I know wouldnt have thought twice before stepping in, big guy or no, you just dont let that sort of thing pass.

I'm not known to agree with you often Tom, but you are 100% correct on this one. Imho another slice of how the BBC is coasting by on old time reputation when it can't actually cut it.

I wouldn't personally disagree in this case, although I would want to know why he wasn't on treatment and what will be done if he stops treatment.

i was in a railway station waiting room the other week and this old lady was struggling to open the waiting room door on her way to the train, i was sat at the opposite side to her and none of the 6 people near her helped her open the door, i stood up and told them all they should be ashamed of themselves for not helping the lady, after i had helped her open the door 2 of the people said to me "are you normally that vocal" i said i was and that i could not see a reason why they would not help the old lady, they just shrugged their shoulders.......

if someone had helped the old man then he might not have got a bad beating from his attacker, personally i would have done something but it just shows you that most people are selfish fuck lords who dont care about anyone apart from their selves.

brooky, there's this thing called crime that happens quite a lot. It means that people are reluctant to trust ANYBODY without good reason. It took me 3 days after I moved to london to get a death threat from my first crackhead because I wouldnt let him use my phone.

OK, so crack heads and old ladies are different, but people are being forced into themselves by the awful state of our society and it becomes normal to shut oneself in and ignore anything that hasnt got anything to do with you. It's what I do most of the time, although I do open doors and give up seats etc. the point is that its understandable and a social problem, not necessarily a personal one.

Ultimately, while an unpleasant and violent attack, the man needs mental care as opposed to locking him up and leaving him be. The latter would be far worse for his mental health and any people around him.
