big boy bugz, learning to argue his point... however im not going to insult you
Not picking on you in particular but was easiest post to grabyes ive met friends through it and achieved something in the space of 2 years, its enhanced my real life 'skills so to say' to an extent. But no where near what travelling for 3 months, or living in spain now is doing to me.
I really doubt any1 here can say that in 20 years time they will be pleased that they spent their youth playing daoc, rather than doin something, something to make you proud and happy and fulfillfed.
Being a game designer and all, i find this attack on games(when you should be looking at original mental state and parenting) unjust.
to be fair its easier to hide your mmo addiction. be in your room all day, playing computer or reading, same shit to parents - they can't check up on you all the time
True, what i meant was more in the line of "If the kid go and shoot a schoolbus full of children, playing a game or not wasn't a factor originally. Someone f*cked up, genes or parents."
its always the games fault! HOW CAN YOU LIVE WHEN KNOWING THAT YOU PROGRAM DEATHMACHINES!
I don't program them!
I say how they should make kids kill babies and make it all look pretty![]()
I mean... nobody stopy anyone from producing porn or horror movies or alcohol or weapons) can have a devastating effect on the economy. .
Biggest pile of bullshit on this thread so far.
It's a hobby ffs. I don't look back on my gaming history and think it's a load of shit. I've met some great people, developed myself, learnt alot & probably achieved more than i would have done otherwise (knowing me, i'd have mixed with the wrong crowd).
I game alot. Probably 2-3 hours a day and yet I still manage to achieve a social life, have a job, have a girlfriend and complete school work etc. If I can do all of them things and have time for gaming - then it's not really wasted time - as it's a hobby.
As for addiction, it's a dodgy word. It is a compulsion/overpowering urge to do something. I know a lot of us here could have the ability to step back from a game if the need arised & I know a lot of us here do the necessities before we log onto the game. We don't skip work to play the game - we don't refuse secks/bum secks for the game yada yada.
It really pisses me off this idea that a) everyone playing mmorpgs must have an addiction, b) we're all geeks, c) we're wasting our lifes.
News-fuckin-flash - it's called a hobby and none of us fail to give a toss what the media decides to coverage in the way of bias slush.
P.S - If anyone here is a journalist - quit your job! ^^
I'd choose a game over anal any day![]()
Even the pope decided to "castigate videogames" and the latest ideas to change the laws in .de basically mean, that we, being a gamedeveloper studio, are forced to leave the country or go look for a new job. Fortunately, we´re located pretty close to the dutch border, so we WILL go for the first option. And I know for sure that at least one other company in .de will do the same... however, into the opposite direction of Europe.
I just came across Wow detox, a site with loads of people posting their experiences with the game. Some of the stuff is kinda frightning, bordering on dependancy.

No thats not true at all, more media sensation. If you read the pope's address properly, he actually puts the responsibility on the PARENTS of children who play video games.
But of course the media, and to be fair, a lot of e-comics and gamer news websites, started crying "OMG THE POPE SAYS VIDEO GAMES ARE BAD"

Not argueing my point - putting across an opinion. I argue my points on essays that end up being 3x the length they should be. If I wanted to put across an arguement - you'd know about it.
But I don't expect much from you. Judging by previous posts, forums aren't your strong point at all![]()
