My grandfather quit this year, after 40 years and 20 a day, he's decided that the cancer isn't worth it. He's been clean almost 5 months now, also swears by the patches and whatnot.

Also, as a side note, if you and your GF are quiting at the same time, some time apart on occasion mite be in order (potential for argument etc), just a though.
