Aye, they forced loads of ballads on him. The whole thing is a sham imo.

Doesn't matter if you like the music or not.
Leona just had more talent than anyone else on the show.
Just because your a heavy metal fan and hate ballads doesn't change that fact.

from my definition of talent, i highly doubt she had 'more' than anyone else...
talent to me means a taught ability, now, afaik she didn't have any lessons, so it was an inherent ability...
countless pop singers have dubbed singing(or lip sinking) or just generally crap...
the music business is rarely about the actual performance of the singer, it has more to do with their aperiance...
we yet know if she can actually wright/compose music, this is the main set-back of this series of X-Factor...
afaik, she has never had a music lesson, or any musical background, except from singing when bored...
all she is, is a karaoke singer...

i agree, it doesn't help that *we* don't like the style, as for the term 'ballad' ive never really understood it, it just seems to me to be a 'golden oldie'...

whereas ben, can play the piano, and probably has a much better understanding of music composing...
his material would be far more benifital to the public than leona's cover versions and something some fat drunk guy wrote for her...

this is were *proper* rock has a far larger appeal to the mass's, it requires actual talent to compose and record a good tune, pop is all about covers and sex appeal... as far as im concerned they might as well be in a beauty pageant...

as soon as they find out they cant she's a crap composer, they will continue to wright songs for more established artists... just like every other series, remember what happened to the winners of all the other winners of X-Factor and the like?

The smallest attempt at research would have found you the following:

Leona Lewis wrote her first song at the age of 12, and at the age of 13, she won the Lady D under-18 talent show at the Hackney Empire. She attended the Sylvia Young Stage School and the Brit Academy. Although her big passion is singing, she is also a keen dancer and actor. Before auditioning for The X Factor, Lewis recorded an album of her own songs called Twilight, but the album was never released

who cares who won theyll just dissapear in to the eather like the pervious winners did any hoo, its like the movie the running man where they show last seasons winners then later on you see theyre skellitons in the locker room rofl

has any previous x factor winner actually survived long term past the show?

i watched the auditions (well a few of them) and got a bit sick of the "Ooh ive had such a hard life i broke a nail when i was fifteen then i got a boil on my arse which prevented me leading a full and happy life for six weeks, winning this show would mean so much to me *big snotty crying* it means everything to me *weep weep snot weep* i'd die if i didnt get chosen *snot snot gasp weep* i'd have no reason to live!!" then the family get interviewed and theres more snot and tears and sad storys its like fgs just get over it if you got talent youll get through if you havent but you have big nawks youll prolly get through either way no one will remember who the hell you are in a years time.

I take it back about Leona. Her voice is absolute top drawer. Better than any other singer ive seen win these talent contests. Felt a bit Sorry for Ray. I was rooting for him as I love the genre of music he sings, but im sure he will do ok out of it.

lol isnt it in a few cases that the people who didnt win actually do better than the winners, liberty x for example and g4 i know they have done better but has anyone that actually won any talent idol contest actually gone on to become famous in their own right?

lemar, lamar or lemur as ill call him is quite good tbh he reminds me a bit of marvin gay.

Only one I enjoyed listening to was Ben.

However, having seen a clip show yesterday showing all the previous Xfactor/Pop idol winners, their first releases were so incredibly overproduced it completely overshadowed any ability they had. So hopefully he'll just get picked up by someone who likes his style, rather than someone who'll try to force a style on him. Singer, Songwriter, Musician with a characterful voice that is distinctive - could thereby be more than just a flash in the pan.

I stopped watching X-factor after the audition stage, but did manage to catch a couple of Leona's songs. Personally I thought she had an amazing voice and I'm glad she won. Good luck to her.

Do these 5 count?

Girls Aloud are a pop group from the United Kingdom.

Created from TV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, Girls Aloud have achieved notable success, with thirteen top 10 hit singles in the British charts (including two number one singles) and four hit albums (including a number one album). Internationally their music has also been released throughout UK, Europe, Australia and Asia.

For a modern pop group, they have received unprecedented praise from broadsheet newspapers and the rock music press, with publications including the Observer, [1] [2] and the NME [3] giving rave reviews to their music.

All of their thirteen singles have entered the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart: a feat no other girl group has ever achieved. They are also one of the few reality TV acts to have had continued success.
