Hehe ... you might have been who he was talking about in guild chat ... think you were lagging out because he said he hit you with his bow a load of times and you're health didn't go down at all ... I know I've seen cases of mages blasting the hell out of someone till they had no mana and their health staying the same .. Doh!

Yeah, this seems to be a serious issue.

I remember one time when I spoted a dwarf on the mmg in emain, heat debuffed him, set my pet on him, and started gleaming him. I was hitting him for about 300 + criticals + pet for a fully 30 seconds (less then 2 sec cast on the gleam) and Zedorf, Luuna and Marius were also hitting him.

In total I would say we did about 8000 damage on him before he died.

The server was really laggy at the time, so that would explain it...

Are you saying he had lag or me had lag? I had no lag at all.

I just stalked that green con skald who made it not even to the UC before Xest shot him. When he unstealthed to turn the Skald into a piece of dead meat I put 2 or 3 arrows into him. He TRIED to shoot me but my arrows where interrupting him. (When one archer is shooting another the one who fired the first arrow will win bcz he interupts the firing of his target.) So he went melee on me with his two tiny sickles... hit me for like 60-80 with the right and 8-10 with the left. There was some extra damage too (What did it btw? A buff? An ability? I'm not familiar with Rangers.) I performed a successful snare combo with my spear and after one more lancer he was down to like 35%. By then he walked backwards (You Hibbies know about /stick do u?) and draw his bow. I used another lancer style and he tried to run but I think the snare was still active. Two more blows and he was history. My hands where still trembling 5 mins later.

Maybe he was the one who had lag? If he was unable to use styles it's pretty clear why I killed him. Anyway he killed quite a few peeps when I was aproaching Vinsaul so he was deserving it, lag or not.


Edit: I came out of this fight with like 30% health so he hit me! He was even evading one of my lancers. I don't think he would have been able to evade if I was really lagging in the kinda way Vidx described. IF he had gotten only 1 hit with his bow I would have prolly ran away (I usaly try on everything that doesn't con purp and sometimes even on purps. And usaly I run after the 2nd shot when they go for me.)

Ranger I guess? Then the extra damage was from the self-damage-add buff they have in their spell line.

ranger melee really sucks, hunter melee is pretty good. There is your answer

If xest hits u with his bow it does a fair bit of damage but then again hunters dont be some scouts in melee

Another note:


The other day me and a few mates went to Dun Ailinne in Gorge/Hib just to capture the keep and make some Hibbies wet their pants. When we were hammering the doors a Gray con Elf came up behind us and I started choping him down (I thought I would kill him in one blow.....but I underestimated him BIG TIME). As the others saw me having probs with a gray con we soon became 4 lvl50 tanks on him.....and believe it or not....we used prox 15-20 sec to get him to eat the dirt...and yes I think we killed him with the Skald damage-add (only) all other melee-damage was useless.

I dunno if it was the archers or the Elf hitting me, but after the fight my HP bar was on 80%....doooh

We all know GOA and their ISP's r working on the heavy lag problems a lot of us r experiencing nowadays, but if these "uber gray con" situatons is lag caused then some of the game mechanics need some scrutiny imo.

I just remembered that I read somewhere that damage from high con players to low cons was going to be slightly decreased while damage from low cons to high cons was going to be increased with some patch. Dunno if it was 1.48 though.

Another thought...
I must have been green or blue con for him. If I am not on full endurance and a little hurt a blue con mobs has very good chances to kill me. Dunno if it is the same with Rangers.

About this self-damage buff: It hit for like 6-10 so I guess Xest isn't very high specced in buffs. Dunno if Rangers get an AF buff like we hunters but if so his was prolly way weaker than mine.

I'm lvl49

The problem was I was pretty much OOE from the Skald I had to finish in melee. I couldn't have got an arrow off because as you stated your shots disturbed me. My only chance was melee and as I couldn't use styles through lack of end I was down to basic hits, I didn't notice the snare at all, the reason I backed off was because I knew I couldn't beat you melee without OOE and I was hoping in the confusion I'd get time to get a shot off, I nearly fired but you realised I'd moved out of your spear range and drawn bow at you a millisecond before I got the shot off. Was a good fight and congratulations

If I'd run I'd have died to bow, if I melee chances are I'll lose and as you saw I did, so unless I get first shot, which I didn't as you fired two shots into me before I'd reached you (the first one into my back before I even knew you were there) I was left little choice but to risk melee. If it had been purely melee I'd have won because as you say you only had 30% hp and your bow had taken 60 - 70% off me before I even got to you.

I think I had about 35 blades and 17 celtic dual at that time as I didn't have my flashy new Epic mob sickle on me. The thing you have to remember is that rangers are never ment to hit hard, 200 or whatever you do with your spears, we instead hit very fast with 2x60 or whatever.

You were blue con to me and no my pathfinding isn't high, my specs when I ding next to lvl50 are:

50 Recurve Bow, 38 Stealth, 31 Blades, 25 Pathfinding, 17 Celtic Dual.

This will put me, at RR5 if I ever get it and with items at something like:

65 Recurve Bow, 50+ Stealth, 42 Blades (44 if I get hold of another sickle), 29 Pathfinding, 21 Celtic Dual

As you can see I'm heavily bow specced but when fully itemed up and at 50 my melee should be up somewhat more.

Finally, as you move towards 50 you'll get far more than 680rp for far easier kills so don't get too excited yet. Countless Avalonian and Kobald casters have fallen to me in 2 shots to give between 900 and 1000 RPs

Hope to see you in the battlefield again one day, my fingers are crossed in the hope that it'll be a bow fight though

I don't want to be telling crap but lately strange things are happening on the server...

The lag thing was a different time - during our failed relic raid. This incident was yesterday morning after Ghostbear had been playing Xest and logged me in Yggdra after a late night of gaming at a LAN whilst I was fast asleep upstairs (I'm still not entirely sure how the hell to get there without a map personally) I'm more of an emain or hunt the Mid/Alb camping Ligen gorge type of guy

What happened is I shot at a yellow con Kobald about 8 times hitting for around 600 damage each time, I got a screenshot of a few of the hits at least, enough to show I hit him for far more than his HP. I can't see it being lag as it displayed the hit and damage messages, however his health bar didn't go below 80% after the first arrow. Either way I'll be reporting it to RightNow along with screenshots as invulnerable mids surely isn't part of the games design even if they seem to get a lot of nice additions ?
