5 were RRODs, tho i didnt pay for any replacement ms have good turn around fro replacing them tho they tended to go pop when new games i wanted to play would come out, 6th elite was just noisey to begin both drive and fans from boot up with ended up selling it, current elite has a drive which is better, fans get louder over time.

and no i dont mistreat my kit, all 3 ps3, wii 360 are well ventilated.

Just got a RROD with 45 days remaining on my 3 year RROD warranty.

Thank fuck it decided to fail now .

So just went through the repair process - so what's the usual turn around and what are the odds I'll get a nice new one, or an elite?

Plus, should I box it up in the original box or just find some crappy cardboard box to send it in?

Crappy box, you will not get the original box back. Don't send HDD, cables or any other accessories, make sure no discs are in the drive. You won't get an elite unless you send an elite. And you are more than likely to get a refurbished one or yours repaired.

1 to 2 weeks turnaround. Although my favourite was when after 12 days they sent me my console back claiming it was repaired when in reality they had done nothing.

The hardest part for me was actually finding a bloody box for it lol.

From when UPS picked up the 360 to them returning it to me it was only 4 working days.

Sparx, no offence, but you have no idea what HD audio is do you?

If I want HD content I want HD audio and visual, I am not prepared to pay for something which is only part of the experience. I am also not prepared to have the fan of the 360 interfering with the movie experience. I can download 1080p blueray rips for free, or rent the bluerays for around the same cost.

Great for those who are happy with not quite HD content, but I'll stick to my ps3.

Name one manufacturer that has implimented full HD Audio (96 KHz, 32 bit - 8 channels)? The chipsets have only just been created. Most consumer brands are quoting HD without delivering on the full spec. I doubt anything in your home has the full setup right now. More likely just part compliant with the spec to play Blu Ray. Panasonic have not shipped anything that is fully compliant with the Intel Spec.

Hawkwind, LPCM and DTS HD, Dolby HD are the HD audio formats used for BD. It does not matter what extra formats Intel create.
